NFL Offseason: 5 Wide Receivers the San Diego Chargers Should Target
Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd have both reached the end of their contracts and have doubts over their future with the San Diego Chargers. With the possibility of them not re-signing, we have to start thinking of some possible replacements for the duo.
The Chargers could end up picking up a WR in the draft, or they could look at their options in free agency. Either way, these are the top five receivers the chargers should target this offseason,
Sidney Rice

It depends on who the Vikings end up getting at QB, but at the moment Sidney Rice should not really be thinking about returning to the Vikings in 2011.
The only way Rice can go back to the ways of 2009, when he had 1,300 yards receiving, is if he gets a top-class QB passing him the ball. Philip Rivers could be that QB that helps Rice get back to his best.
Julio Jones

The chargers would have to trade up to have any chance of getting Jones. But at 6'4", 220 lbs., Jones is the ideal deep threat receiver the Chargers are looking for.
I would have Justin Blackmon rated slightly higher than Jones, but with the recent news that Blackmon decided to stay at Ocklahoma state, Jones is the next best thing.
Terrell Owens

How did T.O's experiment with the Bengals go this year, not very good. Their goal to win the Super Bowl came up just a little short after they finished with a record of...4-12.
Still, although the Bengals didn't have the season they expected, T.O was there leading receiver and still has a lot left in the tank.
Chad Ochocinco

It's clear Ocho isn't happy in Cincinnati. Why would he be when he has Carson Palmer 'attempting' to pass him the ball.
A move to the Chargers would hopefully give Ocho a chance tom play in some well deserved playoff football and give the Chargers some help in getting there in the first place.
A.J. Green

Only IF A.J. Green manages to slip in the draft and only IF the Chargers put a few draft picks together and trade up will this happen.
But just imagine pairing Philip Rivers with the best WR coming out of this years draft, then it wouldn't take long to forget Vincent Jackson.
Conclusion

If the Chargers don't manage to pick up a WR from the free agency, then we all know A.J. Smith will just find a second- or third-round pick, trade up, then draft him in the top-15 expecting him to be the No. 1 receiver. A little something like last year (COUGH, COUGH, Ryan Mathews).
Lets just hope the Chargers find someone.
