Packers vs. Bears: 10 Reasons To Believe Jay Cutler Will Outplay Aaron Rodgers

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Round 3 begins.

The NFC Championship game is down to two NFC North teams. They split the series during the regular season. Which team will come out on top next week?

It will come down to which quarterback plays better. Who has what it takes to lead their team to the Super Bowl?

Here's 10 reasons Jay Cutler will play better and shuffle to the Super Bowl.

10. This Game Means More

They've played each other four times. Jay Cutler hasn't done so well in most of those games. He's won once and played down right awful the other times. What makes this game different?

This game has a lot more meaning. Cutler will learn from the past games and turn things around. This is to go to the Super Bowl. Cutler will bring his A-game and more.

9. Greg Olsen

Greg Olsen is Cutler's fall back. He knows Olsen is open quite a bit, and he can always check down to him.

Olsen had 113 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's rout of the Seahawks. And he will be of great importance to Cutler against the Packers. Olsen will be a key player in the Bears game plan next week. Expect another solid game from him.

8. The Bears Offensive Line Will Protect

It's the playoffs and teams step it up to a whole new level. The Bears o-line gave up 52 sacks to Cutler this year. Just terrible.

But on Sunday, they only allowed three. If you watched the game, you know Cutler had all sorts of time to throw the ball. And next week won't be any different.

7. Arm Strength

Jay Cutler has one heck of an arm. He can put it places no other quarterback can.

His receivers have the speed to get under the deep ball. And if there's a Hail Mary needed, Cutler can throw it further than most.

6. Decision Making

There are times when Jay Cutler is no smarter with the ball. And other times he looks like a genius. The wishy washy-ness of Jay Cutler will be something of the past come next week.

Cutler will put the bad plays behind him and make smart decisions with the football. Sunday's game against Seattle, Jay Cutler threw zero interceptions. And he'll do it again next week on the way to the Super Bowl.

5. Home-Field Advantage

Playing on your home field is always better than playing away. I know the Falcons and Patriots just lost on their home fields. However, Soldier field is a bit different.

The snow fall obviously affected the Seahawks. The freezing cold temperature will bother players. Yes, the Packers play in the cold too.

But the crowd will be a factor in next weeks game. Playing in front of your fans is always a plus. Especially when it's against a team the entire fanbase hates.

4. Devin Hester Scares the Packers

Devin Hester is the ultimate playmaker. And because of that, the Packers may not kick to him, which can result in a short field for Cutler to work with.

If they do kick to him and can return it all the way that would be good. However, it is doubtful they will, so the Bears should expect good field position to work with throughout most of the game.

3. Mike Martz

The hiring of Mike Martz has propelled the Bears offense from a decent team vying for success to a Super Bowl contender.

He has transformed Jay Cutler’s game to new heights. Martz calls the plays and has been the reason why the Bears are winning more.

2. The Bear Run Game is More Reliable

Matt Forte rushed for over 1,000 yards and had nine total touchdowns this year. Forte averages 4.5 yards per carry, exactly what you want from your running back.

The Bears will have a more balanced offense, which will allow for Cutler to perform better. Knowing he can rely on Forte and Chester Taylor to get quality yardage, Cutler can stay calm and cool in the pocket.

1. The Bears Defense Will Make Cutler Look Better

If you can keep the opposing team's offense off the field, you can win the game. It’s a simple as that. The Bears know how to shut down any team and will wreak havoc on whomever they play.

They ranked in the Top Five in points scored against them, only allowing 17.9 points per game and 286 total points on the year. They were second in the league in opponents rushing only allowing 90 yards per game.

The ball hawking corners and safeties will shut down Aaron Rodgers. Lance Briggs, Brian Urlacher and Julius Peppers will attack will full force, and Green Bay won't be able to stop them.

Because of this, Jay Cutler will shine and outplay Aaron Rodgers.
