MLB Rumors: Andy Pettitte Has Begun Working Out, Is He Coming Back To Yankees?

Bronx Baseball DailyJan 15, 2011

Apparently I missed this the other day, but it’s important, so I didn’t want to ignore it now.

Via Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated:

"

Cashman backed off comment he didn’t believe Pettitte would “start” (year). I’m hearing Pettitte is working out. my guess: he pitches in ’11.

This sounds like great news to me. If it’s true that Andy Pettitte is indeed working out, it seems like the chances that he’s coming back have gone through the roof. Of course, Heyman might be going on some bad info, but he’s been right a lot more than he’s been wrong this offseason.

Of course, this doesn’t change much. Pettitte might retire this offseason and he might not. He hasn’t come to any decision yet. If he was indeed working out because he knew for sure that he was coming back, he would have announced it. Until he comes out and says one way or the other, we have to wait.
