Wes Welker: Should the NY Jets Stick Darrelle Revis on Him for the Entire Game?
Wes Welker made headlines yesterday for his interesting press conference, when he made a variety of "foot" and "toe" references, which many feel was a slight jab at Rex Ryan.
Ryan's foot fetish videos caught the web by storm when the story broke, and there's no doubt most NFL players have seen it by now.
If Welker was poking fun at Ryan a little bit, it isn't that big of a deal. However, the biggest revenge Ryan could take on Welker is sticking Darrelle Revis—the NFL's best corner—on him throughout Sunday's game.

But is that the best strategy for the Jets?
Welker leads New England in receptions with 86; the next closest is Deion Branch, who finished the season with 48. It's no secret Welker is Tom Brady's favorite target, but the Patriots are a team that loves to spread the ball around.
So does Ryan move Revis around throughout the game, matching him up with a variety of different receivers, or does he have him check Welker the entire game? It's a question that doesn't have a perfect answer.
Even with Revis covering him, you have to figure the Pats will find ways to get the ball to Welker on short crossing routes or receiver screens. If that isn't working, Brady can look the other way towards Branch, Rob Gronkowski or Aaron Hernandez.
There's no denying Welker is Brady's safety blanket, though.
When Sunday comes, you can expect Revis to be all over the field matching up with a variety of different receivers. That forces Brady to locate where Revis is before each snap instead of just knowing that he'll be covering Welker.
On third downs, Ryan should make sure Revis is covering Welker, because that's where he is most useful to the Pats' offense. As many weapons as Brady has at his disposal, two of his biggest ones—Gronkowski and Hernandez—are rookies who have never played in a game of this magnitude before.
If the Jets are going to lose this game, they need to make sure it isn't because Welker finishes with double-digit receptions and consistently moves the chains. Revis is the best defender in football, and he has to cover the Pats' best receiver for the majority of the game.
Ryan has a great defensive mind, so it will be interesting to see what kind of tricks he dials up to stop Brady and Co.
