2011 NFL Draft Predictions: 10 Prospects Who Are the Most NFL Ready
2011 NFL draft predictions are here and we're taking a close look at guys who are NFL-ready out of the gate.
Getting a guy that is a total stud out of the gate isn't always the easiest thing to find and when you do, you know you're set for years at a certain position. With that in mind, here are 10 guys I think will be impact players from the first day they step on the field.
Any thoughts or comments? Make sure to leave them below.
Who is your favorite prospect in the draft?
No. 10: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
1 of 10
Justin Blackmon has been shooting up the draft boards in recent weeks and if he declares, he would be a total stud at the wideout position.
He's big, strong and physical and runs amazing routes. That's everything you want in a wideout and he's coming out of his sophomore season. He's only going to improve over time and that's a very scary thing for opposing defenses.
I think he's going to be a steal for whoever gets him.
No. 9: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M
2 of 10
Von Miller is a guy who was a little dinged up this year, but still managed to have a great season.
He's a linebacker who can blitz with great success and also possesses great coverage skills. That's something that should really intrigue a lot of teams out there, and something that makes him a great pro prospect.
I think we'll see him taken in the middle of the first round, and he'll make a pretty big impact after that.
No. 8: Cameron Jordan, DE, California
3 of 10
Cameron Jordan is a guy I think is going to be a steal in the first round of the draft.
He had a great season at Cal and is a guy who has a great motor along with incredible toughness and physicality. When you watch him, he leaps off the screen and I think he's a guy that's going to make a team very, very happy.
This is a very deep draft for lineman and Jordan will end up being one of the top players at the next level.
No. 7: Marcell Dareus, DE, Alabama
4 of 10
What impresses me the most about Marcell Dareus' potential as a pro is his versatility.
Depending on the scheme he is drafted into, he will be a tackle or an end, and he's an incredible athlete who can stuff the line and get after the quarterback. He's going to be a guy who can anchor a line and will be an excellent pro player.
He'll go off the board early and with good reason.
No. 6: Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State
5 of 10
I know the offensive line isn't exactly a high-profile position, but please don't sleep on Derek Sherrod.
Sherrod is one of the top lineman prospects in the country and his skill set is something you don't always see from lineman. He's been overlooked as we head into the draft, meaning he'll drop from the top spots down to where a good team can get him.
He'll keep a quarterback very save on his blind side and every team could use that security blanket.
No. 5: Nick Fairley, DE/DT, Auburn
6 of 10
Nick Fairley is a guy that has been shooting up the draft boards as Auburn has made its run to the national championship.
The one thing you'll notice is that he never stops moving. He's always pushing to get to the quarterback and while that has gotten him some penalties, it's something that you really can't knock a guy for. I love how he'll translate to the pro game and I think a lot of teams will as well.
Expect to see him go off the board early.
No. 4: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
7 of 10
Da'Quan Bowers is a player who is now possibly the first overall pick in the draft after Andrew Luck decided to stay at Stanford.
Bowers is a guy who isn't as athletic as a Julius Peppers was coming out of college, but he has a skill set that will translate. He's a guy who's just coming into his own and someone who I think will continue to grow in the NFL.
The Panthers could be very happy if they take him first overall.
No. 3: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
8 of 10
Prince Amukamara is one of the top prospects in the entire draft, and is arguably the best cornerback coming out this year.
He's big, he's strong, he's physical and he's got the strength to go toe-to-toe with some of the best wideouts in the country. Amukamara will shut down opposing wideouts for years and years to come and will be off the board early.
It will be interesting to see how he stacks up with the next guy on our list.
No. 2: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
9 of 10
Patrick Peterson and Prince Amukamara are the top two corners in the draft and it's going to be a battle to see who the top guy ends up being.
Peterson is going to be an excellent consolation prize if some team takes Amukamara ahead of him on the draft board. He runs a 4.4 40-yard dash and he's a stud in the return game, so he'll make double the impact.
He's not afraid of contact and teams are going to love that.
No. 1: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
10 of 10
Elite prospects at the wide receiver position are hard to come by and A.J. Green looks like the real deal.
He's got size, speed and hands that will grab anything that touches them. He's going to be one of the top picks taken in the draft and he's a physical freak that is going to be the centerpiece of some team's receiving corps.
I think Green is going to be a beast from day one.
