2011 NFL Draft Order: Predicting the Final Draft Order with Draft Analysis
The NFL regular season has come to an end and it’s time to start taking a look at the possibilities in the 2011 NFL Draft. One thing that’s most important when it comes to the draft is the draft order that is assigned as the regular season comes to a close and then as teams drop out of the playoffs.
We all ready have a pretty good idea of what the draft order will be for most of the teams in the NFL who aren’t part of the playoffs, but how about those teams in the playoffs and then ultimately those teams in the Super Bowl?
Here is a look at the predicted draft order after the Super Bowl.
1. Carolina Panthers (2-14)
1 of 32
Will the Panthers go for Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck if he decides to come out in the 2011 NFL Draft? Why would they do that with Jimmy Clausen in the mix? We will find out in April.
2. Denver Broncos (4-12)
2 of 32
The Broncos have a lot of holes to fill and could strike on defense first in the draft. Perhaps a nice defensive end or linebacker would help?
3. Buffalo Bills (4-12)
3 of 32
The big question here is whether or not the Bills are satisfied enough with Ryan Fitzpatrick as their quarterback. If they aren’t, could they make a run for a guy like Luck?
4. Cincinnati Bengals (4-12)
4 of 32
A lot of what the Bengals do in the draft depends on what they decide to do with the coaching staff this season. Will Marvin Lewis and company stay or will they go? We will soon find out.
5. Arizona Cardinals (5-11)
5 of 32
You can bet that the Cardinals are going to be in the market for a quarterback in the 2011 NFL Draft. Will “Luck” let them get one of the hottest quarterback prospects to come out of college football in a while?
6. Cleveland Browns (5-11)
6 of 32
Cleveland just can’t seem to win and this has ended up costing Head Coach Eric Mangini his job. The Browns need help at a variety of positions and could look at building up their defense with their first pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
7. San Francisco 49ers (6-10)
7 of 32
This could be another team in the market for a quarterback, but they may not be able to get some of the top passers coming out at this point. Could they swing a trade and move up to get someone they covet?
8. Tennessee Titans (6-10)
8 of 32
A lot of what the Titans do in this draft will depend on whether or not they decide to keep Vince Young. If he goes, they could be one of many teams in the market for a top of the line college passer in the draft.
9. Dallas Cowboys (6-10)
9 of 32
Dallas fell down to earth this season and needs some help in a few areas. Let’s see what owner Jerry Jones decides to do in the draft this year.
10. Washington Redskins (6-10)
10 of 32
Could the Redskins be looking at getting a running back in the 2011 NFL Draft? Let’s see what they decide to do to help improve their offense in April.
11. Houston Texans (6-10)
11 of 32
This was supposed to be the year that they made the playoffs, but the Texans fell well short. With coaching changes possibly pending, this team needs to look hard at drafting some talent that can help them get over the hump and into the postseason.
12. Minnesota Vikings (6-10)
12 of 32
The Vikings could easily be looking at a quarterback for their first round selection, but will one be available when they pick 12th? They may have to do some trading to get a good quarterback or they may choose to try their luck with Joe Webb and see how that turns out.
13. Detroit Lions (6-10)
13 of 32
The Lions are going to be a much better team in 2011, and with some good drafting they could even make the playoffs. Look for the Lions to get some talent to help them in their problem areas and push themselves out of basement and into the playoffs.
14. St. Louis Rams (7-9)
14 of 32
The Rams just barely missed the playoffs this season, and with some additional pieces in the right places, they could get into the postseason. Look for them to go for a wide receiver in the draft to give quarterback Sam Bradford someone to throw the ball to.
15. Miami Dolphins (7-9)
15 of 32
Miami has a myriad of problems on both sides of the ball and needs to do some retooling in order to get back to where it was a couple of seasons ago. The Dolphins' draft should be interesting but let’s hope it helps them fix their problems and get back to the playoffs.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8)
16 of 32
The Jaguars just missed the postseason and their needs are clear. A solid wide receiver is something that they could really use, and they may even want to look at a quarterback. It will be interesting to see what they do in April.
17. New England (from Oakland (8-8)
17 of 32
The Patriots may chose to move this pick but if they don’t, look for them to bolster their defense here and try to fix some issues with rushing the passer.
18. San Diego Chargers (9-7)
18 of 32
The Chargers missed the postseason for the first time in a long time and have to do some work through the draft in order to get back to the postseason. Help at wide receiver is needed, as is some help on defense. Look for them to spend some time trying to fix things in April’s draft.
19. New York Giants (10-6)
19 of 32
What can the Giants do in the draft to help themselves get better? They need help on their offense more than they do on defense, so look for them to concentrate there with their first pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-6)
20 of 32
The Bucs were another one of those teams that just barely made the playoffs. Some help at defensive end might be what they look for the most when they make their first pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. They need to work on their pass rush, and they can find help with that at number 20.
21. Seattle Seahawks (current 7-9)
21 of 32
(Projected 7-10)
The Seahawks managed to make it into the postseason despite having a losing record and having several holes to fill. Look for them to try to do something on offense with this pick, perhaps a wide receiver or another new offensive lineman?
22. Kansas City Chiefs (current 10-6)
22 of 32
Projected: (10-7)
The Chiefs had one of the best turnaround seasons of any team this year, and with a couple more pieces they can return next season perhaps even better than they were this season. This next draft will be very important for their chances to win next season.
23. Indianapolis Colts (current 10-6)
23 of 32
Projected: (10-7)
The Colts discovered that their depth this season was particularly weak, and they may want to add some depth to ensure that they don’t have similar struggles again in the future. They need a strong draft this April to help fill some of the holes they discovered that they had this season.
24. Philadelphia Eagles (current 10-6)
24 of 32
Projected: (10-7)
The Eagles found out that their defense has trouble stopping people when it counts. You can expect an upgrade on defense for the Eagles through the draft this offseason.
25. Green Bay Packers (current 10-6)
25 of 32
Projected: (11-7)
The Packers discovered that they needed a running back to complement the injured Ryan Grant. Once Grant went out, Green Bay didn’t have much of a rushing attack so it might look for a good running back in April’s draft.
26. New Orleans Saints (current 11-5)
26 of 32
Projected: (12-6)
Like the Packers, the Saints could use some help at running back. Will they go for some offensive help in the first round?
27. New York Jets (current 11-5)
27 of 32
Projected (12-6)
The Jets have some solid talent on both sides of the ball but could use some help in a few areas to help them shore up some positions. Rex Ryan had a decent draft last season and could have another nice one in 2011.
28. Baltimore Ravens (current 11-5)
28 of 32
Projected: (12-6)
The Ravens are a team that struggled in the secondary this year and needs some upgrades there. Look for them to bolster the depth there and get a starter or two in this year’s draft.
29. Chicago Bears (current 11-5)
29 of 32
Projected: (12-6)
The Bears really need some help on the offensive line, so hopefully they will hit that first in the draft’s first round and then add some depth later on.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers (current 12-4)
30 of 32
Projected: (13-5)
The Steelers discovered that they have some problems at several positions on the team, and will seek to add some depth in several areas through the draft. A good draft will solidify several positions and help make the Steelers much better.
31. Atlanta Falcons (current 13-3)
31 of 32
Projected: (15-4)
The Falcons may want to look at getting some help in the running game with Michael Turner showing some wear and tear. Will they look at a running back in the first round?
32. New England Patriots (14-2)
32 of 32
Projected: (17-2)
This would be the Patriots' second pick in the draft so, like the first, they could end up choosing to trade this one away. If not, they might try to look for a wide receiver here to help improve their passing game.
