NFL Free Agency Rumors: 10 Potential Suitors for Randy Moss
NFL free agency rumors will start floating around in no time and as we look ahead to the offseason, we're focusing on Randy Moss, who has played for three teams this season and is currently a member of the Tennessee Titans.
I'm telling you that because the Titans have used him so poorly you might not know he exists anymore. Jeff Fisher's handling of Moss has been criminal and Tennessee looks lost as to what to do with him when he's on the field. He's even kept Moss and young wideout Kenny Britt from being on the field at the same time during the game because they play the same position as a top wideout.
That is the level of stupidity that's going on right now in Nashville.
Despite that, Moss has been a model citizen in Tennessee after two rough exits from New England and Minnesota. He'll be a free agent after the season and here are 10 teams that could be interested.
No. 10: St. Louis Rams
1 of 10
The St. Louis Rams were interested when Randy Moss hit the waivers earlier this season and could be interested this time around.
However, the Rams have a young, close-knit team and may be unwilling to throw Moss into the mix with how well St. Louis has done this season. Moss' attitude, or lack thereof, in Tennessee could be something that helps him in the eyes of other teams.
It would make sense, but I'm not sure St. Louis will take the risk.
No. 9: Dallas Cowboys
2 of 10
It's probably a longshot considering the wideout situation in Dallas, but Moss could end up in Dallas.
Jerry Jones loves making a splash and if he keeps Jason Garrett, there won't be some big name head coach heading into Dallas to make that happen. It would draw headlines and it would make up for the Cowboys passing on Moss in the draft way back when.
I'd say it's a slim chance at best.
No. 8: Cincinnati Bengals
3 of 10
The Cincinnati Bengals have had no problems taking in troubled players in recent years but with a new regime likely to be in place after this year, who knows what that will bring in terms of personnel.
However, the Bengals will not have Terrell Owens next year and may not have Chad Ochocinco either. That would leave a gaping hole at the position and room to fill it. Moss would be a nice addition and would likely get looks from Carson Palmer down field.
Sure, they'd probably get picked more times than not, but they'd be looks.
No. 7: New York Jets
4 of 10
Rex Ryan certainly hasn't strayed away from controversy and making waves and bringing in Randy Moss would certainly do that.
He's brought in guys like Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes and even though he's feuded with Darrelle Revis, it would be a pretty good fit in the New York offense and would help stretch the field for guys like Dustin Keller.
It would certainly be interesting to see how the outspoken Ryan and Moss try and work together.
No. 6: Seattle Seahawks
5 of 10
The Seattle Seahawks could really use a top end wideout to work in their offense and Randy Moss could be the perfect fit.
Pete Carroll is a guy who is a player's coach and a guy who could possibly reach Moss in Seattle and even though the quarterback situation isn't ideal, neither is the situation at the wideout position. Mike Williams has had a decent year, but can you really trust him?
I could see it happening, but wouldn't be shocked to see the Seahawks pass.
No. 5: San Diego Chargers
6 of 10
Vincent Jackson will be gone from San Diego after this year, and even though Philip Rivers made it work with a cast of no-name wideouts, is that really a solution for next year?
I think general manager A.J. Smith may have to make a splash since the heat is on him after this year's fiasco and Moss would thrive in San Diego's offense with Rivers under center. He has a cannon of an arm and Moss would be a great deep target for the young quarterback.
I could see that marriage working out in San Diego.
No. 4: Oakland Raiders
7 of 10
Surprisingly, the Oakland Raiders were part of the discussion when Randy Moss hit waivers earlier this year.
Moss had an unspectacular tenure in Oakland the first time around, but it's Al Davis and nothing is surprising when it comes to the Raiders. It was an ugly divorce in Oakland, but if the Raiders were talking about Moss this time around, they might be willing to when they can negotiate the price.
He'd be a nice fit in an emerging Oakland offense.
No. 3: Washington Redskins
8 of 10
One thing the Washington Redskins need is a playmaking wideout, among other pieces.
Ed Snyder loves to spend money and Moss would be a typical fit in Washington—a player that once played at a very high level, but isn't quite there anymore. There's a laundry list of players like that who have worn a Redskins uniform.
Would it honestly shock anyone to see Moss there?
No. 2: Kansas City Chiefs
9 of 10
If Randy Moss headed to Kansas City, it would feel a lot like home.
He'd have Matt Cassel in place, who he worked with for a year in New England and not to mention Scott Pioli, who worked in the Patriots' organization for some time. With Dwayne Bowe and those running backs, Moss could be deadly in that system.
However, with Bowe, maybe the Chiefs would be too hesitant to make a move on a guy like Moss.
No. 1: New England Patriots
10 of 10
Randy Moss has made it no secret that he misses playing in New England.
Why shouldn't he? He was great there and had a career revival after struggling in Oakland and looking washed up. He played with one of the best quarterbacks to ever lace them up and now the Patriots look primed to win the Super Bowl.
I think the Patriots would have him back if the price was right. I think the situation humbled Moss and we could see a different guy this time around.
