Orange and Black and Blue: Top 10 Most Hated Flyers Of All Time (with Video)
Is there a more hated franchise in sports than the Philadelphia Flyers?
I don’t think so.
It may be my unyielding bias but my beliefs are what they are.
The Flyers have always held a motto that they would never be intimidated. It starts at the top with owner Ed Snider and works its way down.
The players in Philadelphia have a blue collar work ethic and a physical presence that can rub teams the wrong way.
This is a Flyers fans version of who the most hated Flyers are of all-time.
Enjoy!
Derian Hatcher
1 of 10Derian Hatcher embodied what it was to be a Flyer and took his role as defender seriously, in more ways than one.
Hatcher was a shutdown defender that was tough as nails. He hit hard and played the game with a bad attitude.
Off the ice he was super nice, but during a game, watch out behind you.
Just ask Sidney.
Daniel Carcillo
2 of 10Daniel Carcillo may not have been a Flyer for long but he is already leaving a lasting impression.
Carcillo is wild and reckless and at times puts his team in bad positions.
The Flyers love a player who plays 100 percent all the time but Carcillo goes overboard and that angers a lot of people in the NHL.
He is also not afraid to fight or talk which seems to piss everyone off also.
Ron Hextall
3 of 10Watch the video and read the subtitles.
Whoever made this video captured the essence of Hextall so feel free to like his video!
Not only was Hextall the best stickhandling goalie of all-time, I believe he was clearly the most insane.
Bob “The Hound” Kelly
4 of 10Bob “The Hound” Kelly was one of the toughest Flyers during the Broad Street Bully days.
He was an extremely aggressive forechecker and that made him not liked by the opposition. He was a pest but a good one at least.
Kelly was not the best player by a long shot but his relentlessness made him an aggravation that could get even the brightest stars off their game.
Eric Lindros
5 of 10Eric Lindros has the same qualities that piss everyone off about Sid the Kid, minus the lack of toughness!
Lindros was my favorite Flyer because he did everything well. If you don’t agree, watch the video and think again.
He hit, scored, bulldozed the faceoff circle and did anything you needed him to.
People hated his talent as much as his aggressive play.
Chris Pronger
6 of 10Chris Pronger hasn’t been in orange and black long but he has already pissed a ton of people off.
Pronger uses his size and his skating ability to stop rushing forwards and he uses his elbows to make sure they take a different path next time.
Pronger has served several suspensions, thrown game-winning pucks into the crowd, and stomped on a player’s leg.
I’m just glad he’s on our team.
Dave Brown
7 of 10Dave Brown was the best fighter I have ever seen fight.
He had the toughest chin and the wildest left hand in the league.
The video is a montage of his amazing beat downs.
Ken “The Rat” Linseman
8 of 10Ken “The Rat” Linseman was a nightmare on the ice for everyone who came in contact with him.
The video depicts a perfect Linseman shift.
Not only did people claim that he looked like a rat, his play truly made him deserve the nickname.
Bobby Clarke
9 of 10Bobby Clarke was the quintessential Philadelphia Flyer.
He played hard and never gave up on any play. His dedication and commitment were contagious and the team fed off of his energy.
Clarke’s aggressive play led to having many enemies but he had all the friends he needed with the Flyers.
Through many years with the Flyers, he was fortunate enough to piss many people off and have a great time doing it.
He is the greatest Flyer there ever was because he did everything well and with a toothless grin.
Dave “The Hammer” Schultz
10 of 10Watch the video. It speaks volumes to what Dave “The Hammer” Schultz brought to the Flyers.
The video also shows how the mindset of the organization hasn’t changed since the 1960s.
Hammer wasn’t the greatest fighter ever but he was the most feared.
