NFL Picks Week 17: Will the Giants Rebound Against the Redskins?
NFL Picks Week 17 are here and it's the final week for teams who are on the fringe of the playoff picture to make that final push and get over the top.
Some need help, like the New York Giants, who have totally collapsed the past two weeks and look terrible right now. The Giants need to beat the Redskins and get some help from the Chicago Bears to get into the playoffs. Can the Giants do it? Find out inside with picks for every other game on Sunday's schedule.
Any thoughts or comments? Make sure to leave them below.
Kansas City Vs. Oakland
1 of 16
The Chiefs are looking to be either the third or the fourth seed in the playoffs and to lock up the third seed, they'll have to go through rival Oakland.
Oakland has had a much better year than the franchise is used to and the Raiders are a threat to win every single Sunday. Kansas City is peaking right now though and I think the Chiefs will take this game and run away with it.
Look for the Chiefs to carry momentum into the playoffs.
Prediction: Kansas City 27, Oakland 13
Miami Vs. New England
2 of 16
The Patriots have home-field locked up throughout the playoffs, but I don't expect to see Tom Brady on the bench in this game.
Bill Belichick isn't going to rest guys for the entire game if at all because the Patriots have a week off ahead. I expect the Patriots to use this to work on some things and try some different packages out before heading into the bye week.
The Dolphins aren't a great team, but I expect them to put up a fight on the road.
Prediction: New England 31, Miami 24
Tennessee Vs. Indianapolis
3 of 16
This is a huge game for the Colts, who can clinch the AFC South with a win over the Titans.
Tennessee is just a dumpster fire of a team right now who has just quit on Jeff Fisher. Fisher has to get fired. He really does. He's an average, overrated coach who doesn't deserve to have had his job as long as he has.
Hopefully for Titans fans, Peyton Manning embarrasses the Titans and sends Fisher packing.
Prediction: Indianapolis 41, Tennessee 13
Jacksonville Vs. Houston
4 of 16
Well it looks like this is the end for Jacksonville.
The Jaguars made a good run of it for a while but it looks like the Colts will lock up the AFC South when they beat up on the Titans and Jacksonville will have to settle for beating the Houston Texans in the final week of the season.
Let's just face it, when your fans are holding rallies to get your coach fired, you had a terrible year.
Prediction: Jacksonville 38, Houston 21
Pittsburgh Vs. Cleveland
5 of 16
Well the Steelers do have something to play for and Pittsburgh should finish off the Eric Mangini era.
Pittsburgh is going to come into this game and beat up on the Browns and get a first round bye and rest up a lot of the players who are banged up coming down the stretch. Cleveland has had a decent year, but it's not enough.
Look for Ben Roethlisberger to have a good game in the win.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 27, Cleveland 13
Baltimore Vs. Cincinnati
6 of 16
Okay, so what was that Cincinnati?
The Bengals came into last week's game without Terrell Owens and without Chad Ochocinco and all of a sudden Carson Palmer is playing like a Pro Bowler and the Bengals beat the Chargers, giving the Panthers the first pick in the draft.
However, the Ravens can still get a bye, so look for Baltimore to win this game.
Prediction: Baltimore 27, Cincinnati 16
Minnesota Vs. Detroit
7 of 16
Look out, because here comes Joe Webb.
Webb torched the Philadelphia Eagles last night in an upset effort and it looks like that win might have sealed Leslie Frazier's job in Minnesota. However, the Lions are playing great football and I think Detroit wins this game.
It's good to see the Lions turning the corner.
Prediction: Detroit 23, Minnesota 20
NY Giants Vs. Washington
8 of 16
Well it looks like the New York Giants are about to collapse and miss the playoffs.
It's unreal how far this team has fallen in the past two weeks. The Giants went from being in the driver's seat in the NFC East to needing help to make the playoffs. Last Sunday was just embarrassing in a game that could have clinched a playoff spot.
I think the Giants will win, but not make the playoffs.
Prediction: NY Giants 28, Washington 23
Chicago Vs. Green Bay
9 of 16
The Packers have rallied and now all Green Bay has to do is win and it is in to the big dance.
Green Bay has struggled with injuries for most of the season and Aaron Rodgers is back from his second concussion and all he needs to go is beat the Bears, who have nothing to play for to get to the playoffs. I think Packers fans should send Joe Webb a thank you card.
Look for Green Bay to get in here in a game that will be closer than you think.
Prediction: Green Bay 27, Chicago 24
Philadelphia Vs. Dallas
10 of 16
Well the Eagles laid a total egg there last night, but I think Philadelphia is going to win this game.
The Eagles will rest players but Kevin Kolb is good enough to beat the Cowboys, who really have nothing left to play for. Jason Garrett has done a decent job but a loss to Arizona isn't helping his case but some of the mistakes that crippled Dallas were because of mental errors by the players, not Garrett.
Philadelphia will win this game with Kolb under center.
Prediction: Philadelphia 31, Dallas 20
Buffalo Vs. NY Jets
11 of 16
Well the Jets don't have much to play for other than playoff positioning and can get the fifth seed with a win and a Pittsburgh loss.
New York has been an up and down team this year and I have some serious doubts about the Jets' ability to go deep into the playoffs but I have no doubts about their ability to beat the Bills on Sunday. Buffalo looked awful last week and I think that will continue this week.
Look for the Jets to win and hope for help.
Prediction: NY Jets 27, Buffalo 17
Carolina Vs. Atlanta
12 of 16
Even though Atlanta's confidence took a big blow on Monday night, look for the Falcons to bounce back against the Panthers.
Words can describe how bad the Panthers are. Jimmy Clausen is awful and Carolina just looks overmatched each and every time it takes the field. Matt Ryan and company should have a field day they march to an easy victory.
The road to the Super Bowl will go through Atlanta by Sunday's end.
Tampa Bay Vs. New Orleans
13 of 16
New Orleans got its big win last week, now the Buccaneers will try and do the same thing.
Tampa Bay needs to win and needs help from the Chicago Bears to sneak into the playoffs and shock the world. No one expected Tampa Bay to make a run this year and even though the Bucs have struggled against some of the top teams in football, it would be a great story.
Josh Freeman is playing great football but the Saints can still get a bye and it's lights out for Tampa Bay.
Prediction: New Orleans 38, Tampa Bay 20
St. Louis Vs. Seattle
14 of 16
Who would think this would be one of the biggest games of Week 17 when the schedule came out?
Sam Bradford will lead the Rams into Seattle to try and win the NFC West on the final game of the season and if the Rams make it, they'll have gone from worst to first to win the division and host a first round playoff game.
Sure, they won't make a splash in the postseason, but it's a great story.
Prediction: St. Louis 23, Seattle 17
Arizona Vs. San Francisco
15 of 16
Man, could this game be more unappealing?
These are two NFC West teams, as if that wasn't enough, but there is nothing here that makes me want to watch this game. San Francisco fired Mike Singletary and the Cardinals are just a terrible team. I feel sorry for the people who have tickets for this.
The Cardinals will win, but who cares in the end?
Prediction: Arizona 29, San Francisco 17
San Diego Vs. Denver
16 of 16
How in the world did the Chargers miss the playoffs?
More importantly, how are Norv Turner and A.J. Smith keeping their jobs? Both should be fired for their ineptitude. It was a total collapse this year in San Diego and everyone in the organization should be ashamed of themselves.
I think Tim Tebow will lead the Broncos to a big upset win in the final game of the season.
Prediction: Denver 27, San Diego 24
