Rex Ryan: Michelle Ryan's Feet Are the Last Thing He Should Be Focused On

David DanielsDec 23, 2010

Rex Ryan sure knows how to get in the news.

He arguably gets more attention than any other head coach in the world of sports ever, mostly for reasons other than football.

From his trash talking with the Miami Dolphins Channing Crowder, to Tony Dungy calling him out for his F-bombs and, now, a video starring his wife's feet, Ryan has become the face of the New York Jets.

The Jets are just the sixth seed in the AFC after an off season full of hype, that had many believing that the team was Super Bowl bound.

Not quite.

They may have defeated Pittsburgh last week, but the road to Dallas goes through Foxborough.  In week 13 at New England, the Jets were slaughtered 45-3.

Maybe if the Jets were in the news more for football instead of other junk, they would've fulfilled expectations.

Don't get me wrong, Rex Ryan is a defensive mastermind.  It's just a shame he has to come off as attention starving like Terrell Owens.

When it all comes down to it, the Jets are going to be favored in their opening round game against the winner of the AFC South or West.  After that though, Rex is going to have to put his foot down (I know, horrible pun) and get the Jets ready.

They will have to defeat two of the three teams in the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

With their top running game and elite defense, they were made to win in January.

It's going to take more than talent to make it to the Super Bowl though.

They'll be able to compete with the Steelers and Ravens as all three teams are similarly built.  A close game is a guarantee and any team could come away with the victory.

It will take an extraordinary effort combined with flawless execution to defeat the Patriots.

Tom Brady is on fire right now.

He hasn't had a passer rating fewer than 110 since week nine.  Brady recorded a perfect 158.3 against the Lions in week 12 and a 148.9 rating against the Jets in their last meeting.

Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson would have to show why many believed they were the best trio of cornerbacks in football.  Calvin Pace, Bryan Thomas and Jason Taylor would have to put pressure on Brady.

Those two things begin and end with Rex Ryan's defensive scheme.  Ryan needs to get his wife's feet out of his head because they'll need his brain to get to the promise land.
