Fantasy NFL Week 15 Top 25 Sunday Performers
Philip Rivers and Vincent Jackson got the Week 15 party started early against the San Francisco 49ers last Thursday night. The two connected for the hat trick as Rivers threw for 273 yards. Jackson caught five passes for 112 yards and the three scores.
With fantasy owners’ sights set on the coveted fantasy championship, which players helped bring them to closer to the promise land on Sunday?
25. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
1 of 25
Manning didn’t have his typical huge game, but he was on point.
He completed 29 of 39 passes (74.4 completion percentage) for 229 yards and two touchdowns.
Manning will be relied on heavily Week 16 in a good matchup against the Oakland Raiders as the Colts control their own playoff destiny.
24. Jacoby Ford, Oakland Raiders
2 of 25
We’ve certainly seen better from Jacoby Ford receiving as he caught just three passes for 47 yards. He did, however, get the job done in other areas.
Ford’s stat line includes a 71-yard scamper for a touchdown.
Ford has been a great flex play due to his versatility. He is also arguably the Raiders’ best receiver already.
Oakland has a nice matchup against the Colts Week 16, so Ford could make more noise again.
23. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles
3 of 25
DeSean Jackson was rather invisible for most of the game, but Jeremy Maclin found open spots in the Giants defense. Better for his owners, Michael Vick found Maclin in those spots.
Maclin finished with seven receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Maclin slipped wide open over the middle of the field for his first touchdown in the third quarter. He broke off a tackle late in the fourth quarter for his 13-yard touchdown.
He has a nice matchup against Minnesota Week 16.
22. Colt McCoy, Cleveland Browns
4 of 25
The rookie shined in his first start since returning from injury.
McCoy completed 19 of 25 passes (76.9 completion percentage) for 243 yards and two touchdowns.
McCoy doesn’t have the best options to work with outside of Peyton Hillis and Ben Watson, but he manages to get the job done with his limited supporting cast.
He has a poor matchup Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens though.
21. Maurice Morris, Detroit Lions
5 of 25
Maurice Morris has done a surprisingly well job spelling the oft-injured Jahvid Best.
Morris helped the Lions snap their road losing streak Week 15.
He rushed 15 times for 109 yards and a touchdown. He also added 10 yards on three receptions.
Morris doesn’t have a good matchup against the Miami Dolphins Week 16, but he should be relied on heavily as the Lions try to win three straight.
20. David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
6 of 25
Garrard was solid once again.
He completed 24 of 38 passes (63.2 completion percentage) for 294 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Even better, he gets to square off against a leaky Washington Redskins secondary. Garrard should have another multi-touchdown performance Week 16.
19. Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts
7 of 25
This is what we wanted to see all season from Brown.
He looked good rushing up the middle and finding holes in the secondaries. He displayed good speed throughout the game.
Brown rushed just 14 times for 129 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for four yards.
Brown will make for an interesting Week 16 flex option if announced the starter against Oakland.
18. Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins
8 of 25
Marshall had one of his best games of the season Week 15.
Although he lost a fumble, he caught 11 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Marshall has a fantastic matchup against the Detroit Lions Week 16.
17. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
9 of 25
Chris Johnson did what he does best. He ran, ran and ran. He carried the rock 24 times for 130 yards and a touchdown in one of his better games this season. He also added one reception for seven yards.
Expect Johnson to continue to be relied on heavily in Week 16 against Kansas City.
16. Matt Schaub, Houston Texans
10 of 25
For the second straight week, Matt Schaub threw the ball more than 50 times as he was forced to play from behind the entire game.
He completed 35 of 54 attempted passes (64.8 completion percentage) for 325 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Schaub has a good matchup against Denver Week 16.
15. Matt Flynn, Green Bay Packers
11 of 25
Matt Flynn had an unlikely performance in his primetime start against a New England defense that has played better in recent weeks.
He completed 24 of 37 attempted passes (64.9 completion percentage) for 251 yards, three touchdowns, one interception and one fumble.
Aaron Rodgers is tentatively expected to suit up against the Giants. If Flynn is forced to start, stay away from him as he battles an angry New York defense.
14. Santana Moss, Washington Redskins
12 of 25
Santana Moss was the main target for Rex Grossman. Grossman clearly trusts the veteran and rightfully so, he’s his best receiving option.
Moss caught two touchdowns and 72 yards on eight receptions as he abused the Cowboys secondary.
Moss will see a ton of targets against Jacksonville Week 16.
13. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
13 of 25
Johnson was dominant as expected. Although he missed out on a jump ball touchdown, it was brilliant coverage against Megatron, who has only been stopped this season by Darrelle Revis.
Johnson was rightfully the main option in the passing attack and he produced all over the field. He caught 10 passes for 152 yards.
Johnson has a decent matchup against the Miami Dolphins secondary Week 16.
12. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
14 of 25
Brees was in prime form once again. Matt Schaub roughed up the Ravens secondary in the fourth quarter of their showdown last Monday night and Brees continued the rampage.
He completed 29 of 46 attempted passes (63.0 completion percentage) for three touchdowns and one interception.
One touchdown bounced off Marques Colston’s hands and into Lance Moore’s in the back corner of the end zone. Moore was able to keep his feet in bounds and maintain control of the ball. It was a remarkable play.
Brees marches his Saints against division rival Atlanta in a great NFC South matchup Week 16.
11. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
15 of 25
Charles helped the Chiefs seal a win in St. Louis. In the fourth quarter, he broke an 80-yard run.
He finished the game with 126 yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries. He added 27 yards on three receptions.
Charles, as expected, makes a great play against the Tennessee Titans Week 16.
10. Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals
16 of 25
With Terrell Owens injured on their first possession, and Chad Ochocinco bothered by his own injuries, the Cincinnati Bengals went back to running the football. Oddly enough, this is how they swept the AFC North last year and just as one would expect, won Week 15. Who know that running the football won football games?
Benson carried the rock 31 times for 150 yards and a touchdown.
He has a decent matchup against the San Diego Chargers, but at least he will be relied on heavily.
9. Jon Kitna, Dallas Cowboys
17 of 25
Jon Kitna performed well again, this time lighting up the declining Washington Redskins secondary.
Kitna completed 25 of 37 attempted passes (67.6 completion percentage) for 305 yards and two touchdowns.
He has a great Week 16 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
8. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos
18 of 25
Tim Tebow proved Week 15 against the Raiders he is a capable NFL quarterback. Even better for future fantasy owners, he proved he can run against NFL defenses.
Tebow completed eight of 16 passes (50.0 completion percentage) for 138 yards and a touchdown. Tebow should have had two touchdowns as a pass was dropped in the end zone.
He also ran for 78 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown.
Tebow has a fantastic matchup against the dreadful Houston Texans Week 16.
7. Austin Collie, Indianapolis Colts
19 of 25
Collie returned from concussion but also left with another.
Hopefully he gets better quickly.
Collie was a fantasy superstar earlier in the season and showed signs once again.
He was Manning’s main target on the day. He caught eight passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
Don’t expect Collie to play Week 16 against the Oakland Raiders.
6. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
20 of 25
With Dez Bryant and Roy Williams out, Jason Witten was left to roam all over the field, surprisingly. The Redskins had no answer for Witten.
Witten dominated for the second straight week. He caught 10 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown.
He has another incredible matchup against the Arizona Cardinals Week 16.
5. Mario Manningham, New York Giants
21 of 25
Manningham was fantastic starting in place of Steve Smith who is lost for the season.
Manningham was able to work all over the field and with coverage shifted to Hakeem Nicks, Manningham saw a ton of targets.
He caught eight passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
He also inexplicably lost a fumble while going out of bounds.
He’ll continue to see a ton of a targets from Eli Manning Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers.
4. Eli Manning, New York Giants
22 of 25
Although the Giants broke down against the Philadelphia Eagles and all but cost themselves the division title, Manning was on point against their secondary.
He completed 23 of 39 attempted passes (59.0 completion percentage) for 289 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.
Manning will need to be on point again against a tough Green Bay secondary Week 16.
3. Rex Grossman, Washington Redskins
23 of 25
Really?
Mike Shanahan was… right… about Rex Grossman?
Maybe the Cowboys weren’t prepared for it. Or maybe the Cowboys defense is just as pathetic as they have been throughout the season.
Still, Grossman scored a ton of points for… fantasy waiver wires.
Grossman was terrible in the first half but poured it on in the second. He finished the day completing 25 of 43 passes (58.1 completion percentage) for 322 yards, four touchdowns, two interceptions and a fumble.
Grossman has a decent Week 16 matchup against Jacksonville.
2. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens
24 of 25
This is the Ray Rice fantasy owners waited all season. If you were lucky enough to make it to the playoffs with him on your roster you reaped the rewards Week 15.
Rice owned the Saints. He rushed 31 times for 153 yards and a touchdown. He displayed those great receiving skills again, catching five passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Rice has a good matchup against the Browns Week 16.
1. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
25 of 25
Vick was contained for most of the game by the Giants, but powered his way to a monster fantasy day in the fourth quarter.
He completed 21 of 35 passes (60.0 completion percentage) for 242 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
He added 138 yards on the ground on 10 carries with a touchdown.
Vick has a fantastic matchup against the Minnesota Vikings Week 16.
