Miz: How the World Champion Is Going to Help John Morrison Become a Star Again

Jack WindhamDec 21, 2010

History is about to repeat itself.

A couple of years ago, management decided that John Morrison was not ready to stand alone after his stint as ECW champion. Company officials decided that it would be best to pair him up with someone that was a gifted and natural talker. Miz, who was sent down to ECW to work on his in ring abilities, was chosen for that task.

Well, that's about to happen again.

At the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay per view, Morrison defeated Sheamus to become the new No. 1 contender to the WWE Heavyweight Championship. That belt happens to be held by none other than The Miz. These guys have come a long way since their stint as tag team champions.

The difference this time around is that they're going to be facing one another as opposed to working as a tag team.

Miz is expected to carry this program with his ability to generate heel heat and work the microphone. His ability to do that should generate more support for Morrison from the audience. All management has to do for Morrison is to script some witty lines for him to spit out. Miz can do the rest.

In the ring, Miz is an underrated performer. Most fans don't see him doing flashy moves, so they rate him much lower than he should be. He's far from being a Dean Malenko or Ricky Steamboat, but Miz knows how to work a match. Morrison, though, is going to be counted on for flashy aerial moves to spark the audience.

It's too early for Morrison to get a title reign, but Miz should be able to help him become a main event player.
