NFL Power Rankings: Julius Peppers, Jared Allen, and 2010's 25 Best Pass Rushers
In the sport of football, the 4-3 defensive end or the 3-4 outside linebacker is the most important position on a defense.
They stop the run, can drop into pass coverage, but most importantly, they get to the quarterback.
The most important position on the defense would be the player who disrupts the most important position on the offense, of course: the quarterback.
These players have been a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks all season long.
Here are the 25 best pass rushers in the NFL this season ranked by sacks, and thanks to footballoutsiders.com, a few special statistics:
A "hurry" is when the rusher forces the quarterback out of the pocket or to throw early.
Holding penalties the defender has drawn is self-explanatory.
A "hit" on the quarterback is also quite obvious. A hit negated by a penalty is included, but not sacks.
If you click on the link you can see that, unfortunately, the stats only show the top performers in the specific category, and the numbers only account for the first 10 weeks of the season.
