Terrell Owens: Cincinnati Bengals Shining Lone Star Burns Out

Brandon GalvinDec 19, 2010

Terrell Owens entered the battle of Ohio Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns already bothered by a knee injury.

He was forced out of the contest with the knee injury during the Cincinnati Bengals’ first possession and was carted off the field.

Owens has been the only bright spot for the Cincinnati Bengals this season. After sweeping the AFC North last year, the Bengals looked like they were finally ready to reign supreme in the division. The Terrell Owens signing sent shockwaves through the NFL. His pairing with Chad Ochocinco gave quarterback Carson Palmer an elite wide receiver tandem.

The Bengals simply never came together from the opening road game against the New England Patriots. They were blown out in the first half and continued to disappoint the entire season.

As the Bengals sit with just two wins, they do have a lead at the moment. They’ll have to keep this lead without superstar Terrell Owens, who has been ruled out of the contest.

Owens was enjoying a fantastic season up until last week when he only caught one reception for 22 yards and aggravated the knee.

For the season, Owens has caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns. Owens had an early season five-week streak where he caught at least one touchdown in each game. He caught two touchdowns in back to back games in Week 8 and Week 9. He caught 10 passes in the two games he exceeded 100 yards receiving, and even had one game with 222 yards.

It is no guarantee, but it’s probably a safe bet Terrell Owens won’t step on the field again this season as he seemed to have quit on the season midweek.
