Fantasy Football Week 14: Start Joe Flacco, Sit Ben Roethlisberger
This week's edition of fantasy football advice features the two quarterbacks from last Sunday's low-scoring thriller between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens.
That game was decided by a Joe Flacco fumble late in the fourth quarter. Afterwards, Ben Roethlisberger threw a touchdown pass that would prove to be the deciding points of the game.
But, heading into this weekend's games, Roethlisberger is a mess. He's still battling foot problems and now has a broken nose to deal with. So, it's anyone's guess as to how productive he'll be.
Here's this week's fantasy advice that will (hopefully) get your team off to a good start in the playoffs.
QBs: Start Joe Flacco
1 of 8
Joe Flacco technically won the quarterback battle last weekend. He scored 13 fantasy points compared to Roethlisberger's 12, but obviously, the Ravens lost the game.
This weekend, the Ravens will be in Houston to take on a horrible Texans' pass defense.
I like Flacco's chances to have a big rebound game in a resounding win for the Ravens.
QBs: Sit Ben Roethlisberger
2 of 8
Roethlisberger was having trouble moving the ball on the Ravens defense all night on Sunday, only managing a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter after Flacco fumbled deep inside Ravens' territory.
This week, Big Ben will be dealing with a broken nose and an injured foot.
Add in the weather forecast, which is predicting a heavy rain/snow storm in Pittsburgh this weekend, and his production could fall to the single digits against the Cincinnati Bengals.
RBs: Start Jamaal Charles
3 of 8
After seeing what Darren McFadden did to the Chargers' run defense last week, I'm convinced they were over performing all year.
Now is a bad time for that weakness to be exposed with a game against the Chiefs' dynamic running back duo.
In Week 1, Charles ran for 92 yards and a touchdown. I expect even better numbers this week.
RBs: Sit BenJarvus Green-Ellis
4 of 8
The Law Firm has been surprisingly consistent the past four weeks. He's put up some solid numbers against tough defenses like the Steelers and Jets.
But, he's always capable of having a one or two point day on any given week, so I wouldn't trust him in the fantasy playoffs.
He's also going up against another tough run defense this week in the Chicago Bears.
WRs: Start Anquan Boldin
5 of 8
I was down on Boldin last week, but he came through with a big game against a very tough defense.
Just imagine what he can do this week against the worst pass defense in the NFL.
Boldin will follow up his strong game with an even stronger game this week.
WRs: Sit Marques Colston
6 of 8
The Rams defense is tougher than they get credit for.
I'm not saying they'll beat the Saints, but I'm saying they have the players to shut down the top New Orleans offensive weapons, like Colston.
Drew Brees will probably have to go to his third or fourth options all day, because I don't see the Rams giving up many downfield yards to Colston and Robert Meachem.
TEs: Start Jacob Tamme
7 of 8
Peyton Manning will be back and better than ever this week against the Tennessee Titans.
It's only a matter of time before he finds a rhythm with Tamme.
The struggling Titans might be just what the doctor ordered for the Colts.
TEs: Sit Rob Gronkowski
8 of 8
The Patriots are playing the Bears this weekend.
The Bears have some pretty solid linebackers, so it'll be a tough day for New England tight ends.
However, Aaron Hernandez creates more of a matchup problem for the Bears than Rob Gronkowski. I'd put Gronkowski on the bench this week.
