Dez Bryant Breaks Ankle, Lost for Season: Fantasy Impact
Dez Bryant broke his ankle in the Cowboys' surprising 38-35 overtime win over the faltering Colts and has been lost for the season.
Dez Bryant flashed some of his immense potential this year, topping out at nine receptions in one game and reaching 100+ yards just once with a 104-yard performance against the New York Giants.
He has been quiet for the last four weeks, so he won't be as missed as he would have been if he had gotten injured in Weeks 8 to 10.
Dez Bryant has plenty of value in 2011 and beyond, and we have him ranked as a top-10 receiver.
Fantasy Impact
As mentioned above, Dez Bryant has disappeared from fantasy relevance since Week 8, so his loss is not as big as it would have been otherwise. There are plenty of good options on the waiver wire.
Roy Williams had a quiet game against the Indianapolis Colts, but is in line to see a significant spike in fantasy value now that Dez Bryant has been lost for the season. Jon Kitna and Roy Williams have chemistry dating all the way back to their time together in Detroit. He projects as a solid flex2 with flex upside in deeper leagues. He is currently available in 54 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
Felix Jones should see a couple of more targets in the passing game, which will boost his PPR value. He remains an RB3 with RB2 upside.
Jason Witten appears to be the main beneficiary, as he will be the recipient of most of the targets on the shorter patterns Dez Bryant would also frequently run.
Miles Austin should return to his WR1 form with the more talented Dez Bryant finally off the field. Expect him to be the stud you expected when you drafted him in the early rounds in drafts this year.
