MLB Daily Market Wrap Up
Moving Today's Market Today the lines are moving in the direction of the underdogs. There has been a significant amount of money put on the underdogs in 10 of the 15 scheduled games. One of those games is the Yankees against the Rays. The Pinnacle line opened with Matt Garza (11-7, 3.53 ERA) and the Rays favored by -120, and has since moved to -109. The reason for this movement was two Steam Moves triggered at multiple sportsbooks, one of which was Skybook (+16.57 units). The public is behind the Sharps' (professional betters) action, as 51 percent of the bets are on New York. Mike Mussina (16-7, 3.41 ERA) starts for the Yankees and has been impressive against the Rays this season, going 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA. Another underdog getting the public's attention is the Cardinals. Adam Wainwright (7-3, 3.04 ERA) takes the mound for St. Louis against the Diamondbacks and Yusmeiro Petit (3-3, 2.83 ERA). The Cardinals are receiving 89 percent of the money line bets, which caused Pinnacle to move from -120 to -113 throughout the afternoon. Wainwright has struggled since returning from the disabled list, allowing 12 earned runs in 12 innings. St. Louis has lost four straight and are now 6 1/2 games behind the Brewers in the Wild Card standings, so they need to play with a win-now mentality or their season will be over at the end of this month.
