Fantasy Football Week 13 Rankings: Running Backs Matchups To Exploit

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballDec 2, 2010

Matt Forte (Chicago Bears) at Detroit

In Week 12, Forte didn’t score, but cracked 100 yards on the ground for just the second time this season. He had 117 yards on 14 carries and 22 yards on two catches. He was the only effective Bears back in Week 12 as Chester Taylor had -3 yards on six carries.

While not the most consistent fantasy running back, he’s a very good start in Week 13 against the Detroit Lions. In Week 1 against the Lions he had 151 yards and two scores through the air along with 50 yards on the ground.

While it will be hard for him to accumulate those kind of stats as a receiver again, he should be able to have a better game on the ground and overall produce similar numbers to that game.

Call us crazy, however Forte should be in your lineup at all costs.

Knowshon Moreno (Denver Broncos) at Kansas City

Moreno did his typical damage once again by scoring a touchdown with 56 yards on 12 carries. He added 62 yards on six receptions to have an overall nice day. Since returning from injury in Week 6 he has five touchdowns in six games.

Moreno faces the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13, a team he ran for 106 yards with 56  receiving yards and a touchdown through the air in their first match-up in Week 10.

Moreno’s nose for the end zone makes him a must start right now, and he should have no problem duplicating his previous numbers against the Chiefs. Moreno’s the show in the Broncos backfield with Lance Ball and Correll Buckhalter posing no threat to him.

Jonathan Stewart (Carolina Panthers) at Seattle

Stewart returned from injury and had his best game of the season, running for 98 yards on 12 carries.

He had just three less carries than Goodson, but wasn’t a factor in the pass game like Goodson was. It looks like Stewart will return to his role in a timeshare, only this time he’ll be sharing with Goodson instead of DeAngelo Williams. He could certainly hold some value down the line if he can show any glimpse of his 2009 performance.

The Seattle Seahawks are allowing over 120 rushing yards per game and have allowed 11 touchdowns to opposing backs, so Stewart could be a decent flex option if you’re looking for help.

Mike Tolbert (San Diego Chargers) v. Oakland

Tolbert continues his surprising season and proves week after week that he can handle a full workload. He had 103 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries and is looking more like an every down back than a goal line back as each week passes.

Tolbert now has nine touchdowns this season to go along with back-to-back 100-yard games and the Chargers likely won’t rush rookie Ryan Mathews back from injury. Even if Mathews returns, we don't expect him to get enough carries to make a big dent in Tolbert’s workload.

Tolbert is a good play again this week against an Oakland Raiders defense that’s allowed 20.9 fantasy points per games to opposing backs this season.
