MLB Daily Market Wrap Up

Dan FabrizioSep 1, 2008

Moving Today's Market

There were a handful of afternoon games on Labor Day, but the majority of the bets are on two night games. The Orioles/Red Sox and White Sox/Indians are drawing the attention in the betting market. Paul Byrd (9-11, 4.55 ERA) makes his third start in a Red Sox uniform against Garrett Olson (8-6, 6.38 ERA) and the Orioles. Pinnacle opened at Red Sox -201 and has increased to -206, despite the Wiseguys (professional betters) triggering two Smart Money alerts at ABC (+23.12 units) and TradeSports (+13.39 units). The line has steadily increased because 79 percent of the public bets favor Boston.

The game drawing the most attention on this Labor Day is the White Sox opening a three-game series against the Indians. Cliff Lee (19-2, 2.43 ERA) is looking to become the first Indians 20-game winner since Gaylord Perry in 1974. He faces a White Sox team that he limited to a run over eight innings on July 1. Pinnacle line opened with the Indians at -164 and has slightly increased to -169. There were two Smart Money alerts triggered at Canbet (+22.16 units) and TradeSports (+13.39 units) in favor of rookie Clayton Richards (2-2, 6.33 ERA) and the White Sox. The Indians are receiving 70 percent of the public's bets and received a Steam Move at 5Dimes (+5.50 units).
