Kansas City Chiefs Beat Seattle Seahawks: 10 Players Who Stood Out for KC
The Kansas City Chiefs continued their surprising season with a 42-24 rout over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Qwest Field.
The offense shined as it racked up 503 total yards for the game and Matt Cassel, Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe all had big days for the team.
However, with a dominating performance like this one was, there always has to be a few guys that stick out and make this win happen in the first place.
Eric Berry
1 of 10
Even though Berry didn't have one of his best statistical games of the season, his presence was still felt on the defensive side of the ball for the Chiefs.
He picked up three more tackles and played another solid overall game on Sunday.
With every game, Berry is learning more and more and is really helping the Chiefs defense become better at the same time due to his overall play.
Kendrick Lewis
2 of 10
Lewis played a good game against Seattle and like rookie teammate Eric Berry is learning how to become a solid safety in this league.
He did give up an 87-yard touchdown, but he also nabbed his first career NFL interception which was a key defensive play at the time for Kansas City.
Lewis also tallied two tackled and a pass deflection in the Chiefs win.
Tony Moeaki
3 of 10
Rookie TE Tony Moeaki threw several key blocks that helped spring a Chiefs offense to rush for 270 yards on the day.
He wasn't much of a factor in the passing game, but he did get in on the action with a touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter.
He is another quiet piece to the Chiefs' success this season and has helped give QB Matt Cassel another solid receiving target.
Javier Arenas
4 of 10
Rookie corner-back Javier Arenas got a lot of game action Sunday, as he was helping fill the void left by injured starter Brandon Flowers.
He finished the game with seven tackles and a pass deflection while more than holding his own against Seattle's receiving corps.
Arenas has been playing more over the last few games and this could be an indication of how well he is learning his position as a rookie in this league.
Thomas Jones
5 of 10
Although RB Thomas Jones might have been somewhat lost in the shuffle of the Chiefs win against the Seahawks, he played a vital part as well.
Jones rushed for a tough 68 yards on 20 carries and also caught three passes for 14 more yards, giving him an impressive 82 total yards for the day.
He has helped kept star RB Jamaal Charles fresh this season and is a perfect thunder to the lightning that Charles brings to the Chiefs when he touches the ball.
Shaun Smith
6 of 10
Kansas City defensive tackle Shaun Smith had a career day as he one of two players to ever score a touchdown and record a sack in the same game.
Smith also had a very productive day in shutting down Seattle's rushing attack, as he helped the Chiefs defense hold them to just 20 yards on the day.
Big Shaun looked so good on his touchdown plunge that maybe the Chiefs should look to him more often in future goal-line situations.
Derrick Johnson
7 of 10
Johnson continued his strong pursuit for his first Pro Bowl selection on Sunday against the Seahawks with another strong performance.
DJ finished the game with six total tackles, to go along with a sack, a pass deflection and his career high fourth forced fumble on the year.
Derrick was everywhere on a defense that shut down Seattle's offense for much of the game.
Matt Cassel
8 of 10
Chiefs QB Matt Cassel continued his excellent '10 campaign with a four TD effort against the Seahawks Sunday.
He completed about 69% of his passes on the day as he ended up throwing for 233 yards in the win.
He continues to progress as a QB in this league and also showed some toughness with 28 rushing yards and a play where he ran down-field to block for teammate Jamaal Charles.
Jamaal Charles
9 of 10
Charles had another big day for the Chiefs, as he rushed for over 150 yards for the second time this season.
He finished the day with 173 yards on just 22 carries, which spiked his league-leading yards per carry average up to an amazing 6.3 mark.
JC made the NFL's 12th ranked rushing defense look like a college defense as he had his way with them all game long.
Dwayne Bowe
10 of 10
The Chiefs emerging wideout Dwayne Bowe had arguably the best game of his NFL career on Sunday.
Bowe caught 13 passes from Matt Cassel for 170 yards and three touchdowns. He was nearly unstoppable against the Seahawks, as he found a way to get open for much of the game.
He also had many crucial catches that lead to third down conversions and was the main receiving threat in a passing offense that torched the Seattle secondary all day.
