NFL Picks Week 12: Michael Vick's Philadelphia Eagles Beat the Chicago Bears
With the Thursday Thanksgiving games over, it's time to look ahead to Sunday's (and Monday's) Week 12 NFL matchups.
The Jets and Patriots still look like the AFC's best, but the Ravens, Steelers and even the Chargers will be out looking to prove them wrong.
There are also exciting matchups out in the NFC, with the Green Bay Packers taking on the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears' stout defense looking to stop the Michael Vick experience in Philadelphia.
So with that being said, here are my NFL Week 12 picks against the spread.
Minnesota Vikings (+1) over Washington Redskins
1 of 14
Look for Leslie Frazier to pull a Jason Garrett and for Brett Favre to torch Washington's secondary that gives up over 280 yards per game.
Vikings 31, Redskins 17
Buffalo Bills (+7) over Pittsburgh Steelers
2 of 14
Both teams are 2-2 over their last four games, and Buffalo comes in with the longer winning streak at two games.
The Steelers defense is too good for them to lose this game, but Ryan Fitzpatrick is a gunslinger and Pittsburgh can be beaten through the air (239.1 ypg).
Steelers 24, Bills 20
Houston Texans (-6.5) over Tennessee Titans
3 of 14
The Texans get lit up through the air on a weekly basis, but unproven rookie Rusty Smith is slated to start for the Titans.
According to draft guru Mel Kiper Jr., Smith has a big arm but isn't all that accurate.
Mario Williams is salivating.
Texans 38, Titans 23
New York Giants (-7) over Jacksonville Jaguars
4 of 14
I might regret this one, but I'm counting on the Giants not shooting themselves in the foot for a change.
They're the better team overall, but the Jaguars have won three straight.
I'm betting on talent here.
Giants 28, Jaguars 13
Cleveland Browns (-10) over Carolina Panthers
5 of 14
Cleveland is the better team, and Peyton Hillis should run all over the Panthers weak front seven.
Cleveland 24, Carolina 13
Green Bay Packers (+2) over Atlanta Falcons
6 of 14
Atlanta can be beaten through the air (244.1 yards allowed per game).
Aaron Rodgers will feast.
Packers 27, Falcons 17
Miami Dolphins (+3) over Oakland Raiders
7 of 14
Against the Raiders weak rushing defense (128.5 yards allowed per game), it's time for Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams to finally get back on track.
I think they will.
Miami 20, Oakland 17
Kansas City Chiefs (-2) over Seattle Seahawks
8 of 14
The Seahawks perform well at home, but mostly because of their weak schedule.
Don't let it fool you. Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe will light up Seattle's shaky defense, and the Chiefs should roll.
Kansas City 31, Seattle 17
Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) over Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9 of 14
The Bucs are a good team, but you can't give up 136.5 rushing yards per game and expect to beat a team with Ray Rice.
If the Ravens are smart for a change and hammer Rice away (they've underutilized him so far), they should win this.
But if not, all bets are off.
Ravens 27, Bucs 17
Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) over Chicago Bears
10 of 14
Michael Vick looks like he can't be stopped, but the Eagles have yet to face a defense like Chicago's, which allows just 14.6 points per game.
Philly's defense can be shaky at times, but Jay Cutler's turnover problems should hurt him against the always-gambling Asante Samuel.
Eagles 20, Bears 16
St. Louis Rams (+4) over Denver Broncos
11 of 14
Steven Jackson should feast on the Broncos porous run defense (143.5 yards allowed per game).
Rams 27, Broncos 23
San Diego Chargers (+3) over Indianapolis Colts
12 of 14
The Colts are really banged up, but almost took out the Patriots last week.
San Diego is on fire, coming off of three straight wins.
In a vacuum, I'd have to take Peyton Manning over Philip Rivers, but the Chargers are better on every other spot on the field.
Chargers 31, Colts 28
San Francisco 49ers (-1) over Arizona Cardinals
13 of 14
This is a pathetic Monday Night football matchup, pitting two 3-7 teams against each other.
But the Cardinals have been even worse than the 49ers lately, with five straight losses.
San Francisco has at least looked somewhat capable since Troy Smith took over, and they're clearly the better team.
49ers 23, Cardinals 10
Season's Picks
14 of 14
What do you think?
Let me know in the comments.
Last Week's Record: 8-8
Season: 52-38
