Kansas City Chiefs Look To End Road Woes Against Seattle Seahawks

Bill RobbinsNov 23, 2010

Every game becomes very important for the Kansas City Chiefs at this time of the season, and this Sunday's road game against the Seattle Seahawks will be no different.

The Chiefs come into their Week 12 match-up with the up and down Seahawks as a team with something to prove.

What they are trying to prove is that they can win on the road in the NFL. Heading into this weekend's game, the Chiefs are a dismal 1-4 in games away from Arrowhead this season.

That is going to have to change in order for this team to be able to clinch it's first playoff birth since 2006, when they won the AFC Wild Card.

The Seattle game this Sunday is just one of three remaining road games left in the 2010 season for KC, and looks to be a winnable game in many ways for Kansas City.

First of all, Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck has been very inconsistent this season, as he has thrown only eight touchdowns while serving up nearly as many picks (7). He also has a QB rating of 79.4, which is good for the 25th best rating in the league.

Another area where Seattle struggles is their running game. Their rushing offense ranks 30th in the league with around 84 yards a game, and their offensive line has just as often struggled with getting a consistent push from game to game.

Kansas City's defense has done well against the run this season, but in order to win in Seattle, they will need to be able to contain the Seahawks passing offense.

This means they will have to put the clamps on emerging fourth-year wideout Mike Williams, who already has 52 catches for 654 yards this season.

KC also needs to continue the momentum that they have built up through their passing game, as Dwayne Bowe has been an animal over the last three games, scoring a combined five touchdowns in the process.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel should have more offensive firepower around him this weekend with the expected returns of both rookie TE Tony Moeaki and rookie WR Dexter McCluster.

Kansas City needs to have a well executed game-plan on offense, defense and special teams (much like they did against Arizona) to beat a shaky Seattle team this weekend.

Road games are very tough to win in this league, and this young Kansas City team needs to prove they can win them on a consistent basis. There is no better game to start than this upcoming tilt with the Seahawks.
