NFL Picks Week 12: Which Teams Will Cover the Spread?
Week 12 of the NFL season is a special one. Thanksgiving football is just as much an American tradition as Black Friday.
The headlines of the week are the people certain teams are missing. The Minnesota Vikings will be without Brad Childress and the Tennessee Titans will be without Vince Young.
It will be interesting to see those squads respond after significant losses.
Here are the all of week 12's match-ups and which teams will cover the spread:
There is no line for the following games:
Carolina at Cleveland
Tennessee at Houston
Miami at Oakland
New England at Detroit
1 of 13
Spread: Patriots by 6.5
After losing to the Browns, the Patriots responded by defeating the Steelers and Colts in consecutive weeks. A Shaun Hill led Lions team shouldn't be hard to beat by a touchdown.
Will They Cover? Yes
New Orleans at Dallas
2 of 13
Spread: Saints by 3.5
The Saints are hot, but so are the Cowboys under new head coach Jason Garrett. I wouldn't bet against the Cowboys in their house.
Will They Cover? No
Cincinatti at The New York Jets
3 of 13
Spread: Jets by 8.5
Not only has Cincinnati lost seven straight games, their last loss was a by 18 to the Bills. That locker room full of characters must get more and more irritable every week.
Will They Cover? Yes
Jacksonville at The New York Giants
4 of 13
Spread: Giants by 7.5
If the Giants had Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith against the Jaguars pass defense, it would have been ugly, but Nicks and Smith are out this week due to injury. The Jaguars have won three straight games and will be able to stay with seven points.
Will They Cover? No
Green Bay at Atlanta
5 of 13
Spread: Falcons by 2.5
The Packers have won their last three games by a total of 75 points while only surrendering 10 points. Even at home, expect the Falcons to fall Sunday.
Will They Cover? No
Pittsburgh at Buffalo
6 of 13
Spread: Steelers by 6
The Bills may have just won two straight games, but they were against the Lions and the Bengals. The Steelers are a different kind of animal and are too talented for the Bills to hang with.
Will They Cover? Yes
Minnesota at Washington
7 of 13
Spread: Redskins by 2.5
The Vikings only win in their last five games was a three point win over the Cardinals. The Redskins will be able to pull out the win, unless of course, the Vikings excitement of Brad Childress being fired fuels them to victory.
Will They Cover? Yes
Kansas City at Seattle
8 of 13
Spread: Chiefs by 1
The Chiefs will defeat the Sehawks handily Sunday. Vegas is giving out free money by spotting the Chiefs just one point.
Will They Cover? Yes
Philadelphia at Chicago
9 of 13
Spread: Eagles by 3.5
Wow, Vegas is only giving the Eagles 3.5 points after they beat two divisonal rivals in a row by a combined 41 points. Sure, the Bears have won three straight games, but this is Michael Vick they're going up against, not Ryan Fitzpatrick, a broken Brett Favre, or Tyler Thigpen.
Will They Cover? Yes
St. Louis at Denver
10 of 13
Spread: Broncos by 4
The Broncos were beaten down last week by the Chargers. Their joke of a run defense won't be able to slow down Stephen Jackson.
Will They Cover? No
Tampa Bay at Baltimore
11 of 13
Spread: Ravens by 7.5
The Buccaneers have one of the worst run defenses in the league and the Ravens have Ray Rice. At home, the Ravens will just be able to cover the spread.
Will They Cover? Yes
San Diego at Indianapolis
12 of 13
Spread: Colts by 3
Yardage speaking, the Chargers have the best offense and defense in the league, and that's finally starting to mean something as they're beginning to eliminate mistakes. Peyton Manning has had three poor games in a row and won't be able to get back to his dominating ways against the Chargers.
Will They Cover? No
San Francisco at Arizona
13 of 13
Spread: 49ers by 1
After overachieving to start the season, the Cardinals have lost five straight and are who we thought they were. They're a should-win game for almost every team in the league right now, even the 49ers.
