NFL Week 11 Awards: Richard Seymour KO, Vince Young Meltdown and More
The NFL Week 11 Bleacher Report Awards are fresh out of the mint and ready to be handed out.
Richard Seymour is in line for a big award, and I'm not sure he wants it, but we're giving it to him anyway. The Jets get honored again, Vince Young makes an appearance and we look at who wins the Manning of the Week when both Mannings lose.
Not all of these awards are coveted, but that doesn't stop us from handing them out.
I've slipped into my tux, and we're ready to hand out the awards.
Best Performance by a Running Back: LeSean McCoy
1 of 15
LeSean McCoy took the bumbled snap from Michael Vick and just powered down the field for a touchdown. The run was a thing of beauty and you got to give it up for the Eagles.
The 2008 Detroit Lions Futility Award for Tackling: Cleveland Browns Defense
2 of 15
Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 75 yards at the end of the game on Sunday versus the Browns.
If anyone wants to show film on how NOT to attempt or perform tackles, please just replay that highlight over and over again. I don't think I've ever seen so many players on one team fail at the same basic skill set so consistently.
It was like Jones-Drew had butter on his uniform combined with insect repellant and a bad case of body odor because most of the Browns defenders didn't want to touch him, and the few that did failed to do anything with it.
Fantasy Quarterback Moment of the Week: Ryan Fitzpatrick
3 of 15
Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns. Yes, he had two picks, but this is the Bills we're talking about, they're turning into a fantasy football owner's dream with their offensive numbers lately.
Receiver of the Week: Santonio Holmes
4 of 15
Two weeks, two touchdown catches, Santonio Holmes is the MAN in New York right now. Of course he wouldn't be there without Mark Sanchez, but everyone knows that.
Holmes has made two clutch catches for the win, and there's no one on that team earning their paycheck more right now than Holmes.
Game of the Week: Giants-Eagles
5 of 15
If you could find a better game on Sunday with that much drama, that much back-and-forth, and that many "You gotta be kidding me" moments, please raise your hand.
The Colts-Patriots game was good, and it had a lot of great moments, but the Giants-Eagles game was better.
Most Boring Game of the Week: Bears-Dolphins
6 of 15
While the Giants-Eagles game represented the best the NFL had to offer, was there a more boring game in last week's action than the Thursday night game between the Bears and the Dolphins.
The NFL Network probably thought this was going to be a great game on paper when the schedule was set up earlier in the year, but what they got was a complete dud. A 16-0 snoozefest that not even the Bears are going to want to break down on film.
The Leon Lett Award for Doing It Wrong: Houston Texans
7 of 15
Whatever the Texans defense is doing, it's not right. Whatever head coach Gary Kubiak is doing to try and correct the problems, it's not working.
The Texans defense is turning into a complete joke of a unit, and it has brought what should have been a playoff team to its knees.
The Matt Millen Memorial Award for Just Being Bad: The NFC West
8 of 15
The Seahawks, Cardinals, Rams and San Francisco 49ers all lost on Sunday.
The real kicker there is these teams all still have a chance of winning the division, since the Seahawks currently lead the division with a commanding 5-5 record.
Somebody needs to stop this before a 7-9 team actually makes the playoffs.
Best Politically Correct Statement by a Coach: Jeff Fisher
9 of 15
In the postgame press conference after Vince Young had shed his uniform in the stands and left the stadium, head coach Jeff Fisher's response was priceless.
"I think clearly that is no way to respond, and so we have some things that we have to sort out with him," said Fisher at the press conference.
Politically correct? Yes.
Awesome to listen to? Definitely.
Who ARE These Guys? Award: Jacksonville Jaguars
10 of 15
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in first place in the AFC South, ahead of the Indianapolis Colts.
Who would've predicted this?
The Jaguars are finding ways to win while the Colts have a couple of tough losses, two in the division.
Can it last? Time will tell.
Best Hot Seat Coach of the Week: Brad Childress
11 of 15
A bad loss against a division rival on the heels of your team turning on you, the owner questioning your personnel moves and a fan base that can't stand you?
Brad Childress, you're the big winner!!
Manning of the Week: Cooper Manning
12 of 15
With both Eli and Peyton demonstrating the "Manning Face" this week, Cooper is the big winner!!
Yeah, Cooper!!
Best Temper Tantrum of the Week: Vince Young
13 of 15
Vince Young's response to being benched for a thumb injury was to shed half of his uniform into the stands and leave the stadium without talking to anybody.
Young claims he always gives his jersey away after a game, but the cleats, shoulder pads and other pieces that went in the stands probably weren't part of his customary ritual.
Young says he's frustrated because he doesn't feel Fisher trusts him.
Go figure. This is Young's latest meltdown in a long history of immature acts. Let's all assume Young will grow up after the next one.
Hit of the Week: Richard Seymour
14 of 15Ben Roethlisberger knows how to take a punch, and Richard Seymour delivered one heck of a punch on Sunday.
While Roethlisberger survived the punch just fine, it still was a great punch.
Clutch Quarterback of the Week: Mark Sanchez
15 of 15
We honored Santonio Holmes for making the game-winning catch, but we would be remiss if we didn't honor Mark Sanchez for making throw after throw and play after play in the fourth quarter that put the team in position for Holmes to make that big catch.
Three weeks and three great victories under pressure for the young quarterback. Sanchez gets the trophy.
