WWE Survivor Series 2010: Thoughts, Predictions, Etc...

Chris FreemanNov 16, 2010

It's that time of year again: SURVIVOR SERIES!!!

Yeah, a lot of you really aren't excited for this one. I can't say I blame you, though. I'm an easily satisfied person, because I try not to think too much about what's going on. Sure, I could complain about everything that I see that's wrong, but the only thing that would accomplish is disappointment. It's not like it would change anything.

But I digress. Survivor Series 2010 is this Sunday and we have one more Smackdown! to take us into the event.

A lot of questions are on everyone's minds; Will John Cena turn heel? Will Wade Barrett be the WWE Champion? What's David Otunga's part in all of this? Will Edge beat Kane? Will the RAW GM chime in and piss everyone off? Just kidding about that last one, but the others have been asked time and time again for the past month.

Let's take a look at the current lineup...

John Morrison Vs Sheamus

1 of 8

Morrison and Sheamus have had quite a rivalry over the past month—I'm just joking, Sheamus tries to attack Santino and Morrison stops him. That's how its gone for four weeks now.

It all started when Santino faced Sheamus and beat him with a roll-up. Now, I'm a pretty big Santino fan, but even I was like "WTF?" Santino is portrayed as a joke. That's how creative writes him to be. A joke. He makes everybody laugh and it pisses off all of his true fans who recognize his ability. This is the cold hard truth and we have to deal with it.

Now, why did Sheamus have to LOSE? It doesn't help Santino because he's not going to get a push. It hurts Sheamus and makes him look like he truly was lucky when he won the WWE Title twice.

Sheamus gets mad, attacks Santino and then Morrison comes to the rescue. This goes on for four weeks until Morrison calls Sheamus a "bully." He challenges him to a match, which Sheamus accepts a few moments later by Brogue Kicking Morrison in the head. So now we have our match.

Crappy booking and build up aside, I bet this match will steal the show. Morrison and Sheamus are two very different competitors and they both play their roles very well. This match will have great variety and if it's anything like their last match (on RAW September 13, I believe), then it will be the match of the night.

I predict Morrison winning here to put that "bully" Sheamus in his place.

WINNER: MORRISON

WWE Tag Title: Gabriel and Slater (c) Vs Santino and Kozlov

2 of 8

This should be interesting.

The match was decided last night in a No. 1 contender's match between Santino and Kozlov and the Usos. Now, considering the Usos are a heel team and the Nexus are a heel faction, was there any doubt that Santino and Kozlov would win? It should have been the Hart Dynasty—OH WAIT, that's right! They broke up last night. After weeks of constantly walking out on each other, Tyson Kidd finally struck David Hart Smith and walked away smiling. Can't wait to see him not become WWE Champion.

Anyway, Gabriel and Slater are a good team. They have pretty good chemistry as a tag team, which is something that the Tag Team Division really needs right now, considering we only have 3 teams now.

Santino and Kozlov are a pretty dynamic team as well. I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but I like them and I believe they should be taken seriously.

That being said, I believe Gabriel and Slater will win here. They haven't defended the titles since their controversial win a few weeks back, so the win would make them seem stronger. A loss would hurt them, as well as, the Tag Team Titles. Seriously, these need to stop being passed around so much. Just keep them on a team and actually have them defend it. That's all.

WINNERS: GABRIEL AND SLATER

Team Mysterio Vs Team Del Rio

3 of 8
I do not want to see this at Survivor Series
I do not want to see this at Survivor Series

Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio have had quite a rivalry! I'm not joking this time. It has been pretty neat.

Del Rio defeated Mysterio in his debut match on Smackdown, shocking the WWE Universe. Mysterio was out with injury after that (kayfabe, he was injured before that) until he returned and got revenge on his nemesis. The feud continued, however, as Bragging Rights saw Mysterio and Del Rio on the same team, until Del Rio attacked Mysterio during the match.

Now, we have a Team Mysterio vs Team Del Rio match...out of nowhere. They sort of just shoved it in our faces and said "Hey check this out!" with no buildup or anything. Just an advertisement for Survivor Series. Oh well, should be a good match.

Team Mysterio is Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Chris Masters and Big Show.

Team Del Rio is Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger, Tyler Reks, Drew McIntyre and "Dashing" Cody Rhodes.

So, Team Del Rio should win. I want them to win. They have a more technically sound team with guys like Del Rio and Swagger, along with younger athletes such as McIntyre and Rhodes. Let's not forget Tyler Reks, who is on a winning streak as of late.

Team Mysterio—well, Kofi and MVP could use a win. But Mysterio and Big Show are being pushed beyond belief. I mean, I already went over how Show hasn't been pinned this year in an earlier article and Mysterio, I thought he was the Ultimate Underdog? His win/loss record tells a completely different story.

Anyway, Team Mysterio will win and all the little kids will be happy and I'll die a little inside.

WINNER: TEAM MYSTERIO

United States Title: Daniel Bryan (c) Vs Ted DiBiase

4 of 8
God, this is an awesome picture!
God, this is an awesome picture!

Okay, this one is just pure speculation. But there's a 99 percent chance this one is happening at Survivor Series. I mean, DiBiase attacked Bryan last night and held up the title like it was already his. No match has been announced yet, but there is a little over a week left until Survivor Series.

Anyway, I actually expect Bryan to lose this one. He's been on a roll for a while now and has yet to lose at a PPV. I would like to see him win as he still has many other guys he could feud with over his first championship. Like Dolph Ziggler did last night against Mark Henry, Bryan could defend his US title against someone from Smackdown. Drew McIntyre, "Dashing" Cody Rhodes or even Jack Swagger (they had an awesome match last night and could have an awesome feud, too.)

This one could go either way, but I still see DiBiase winning here, probably with some help from Maryse.

WINNER: TED DIBIASE

Divas Title: LayCool (c) Vs Natalya

5 of 8

There seems to be a trend in WWE where people get to challenge for a title multiple times in a row. Wade Barrett is challenging for the WWE title for the second time (not so bad), Kofi and Dolph feuded over the IC title forever (became bad) and now Natalya is challenging for the Divas title for a third time in the past two months.

The first time she challenged for the title, Natalya faced Michelle McCool and won by DQ.

The second time, she faced Layla and again, no title.

This time, she faces BOTH OF THEM! Guess what? Natalya's gonna win.

It seems like the two Divas of LayCool have both cost Natalya her title opportunity and now she has them right where she wants them, I guess, I don't know. But I still have a feeling that she'll win.

WINNER: NATALYA

World Heavyweight Championship: Kane (c) Vs Edge

6 of 8

Edge vs. Kane. We've seen this one before, but it should still be interesting.

Kane has defended his title four times since winning it at Money in the Bank; one time against Rey Mysterio and three times against The Undertaker. He's had the most credible World Title reign this year and I predict he's going to retain.

Neither man has really gotten the upper hand on the other. David Otunga beat Edge last week when Kane interfered and then, Big Show beat Kane when Edge distracted him. Seems like both men are equal in this competition however; Kane has Paul Bearer.

Should be a decent match, but we won't see a new champion. Not yet at least.

WINNER: KANE

WWE Championship: Randy Orton (c) Vs Wade Barrett; John Cena Is Special Referee

7 of 8

Last month, we saw Wade Barrett face off against Randy Orton. John Cena was in Barrett's corner and was the main focus of the match. At the end of the match, Cena hit Barrett with an Attitude Adjustment, allowing Barrett to win by DQ. So, the RAW GM claims that Barrett gets another title shot because he technically won. That's good, because I would personally be pissed off if I got a title shot, won, but didn't get the title and then someone else got a shot the next month.

Anyway, this match can only end via pinfall or submission (says the RAW GM) and the Nexus is banned from ringside.

This has been a pretty back and forth rivalry. Sometimes Orton is on top, sometimes Barrett is, but the key here is John Cena. As the special referee for the match, Cena claims that he will call it down the middle. As with the Kane-Edge match, neither man has an advantage over the other walking into this one. After all, they were both AA'd last night. Cena really seems like he's going to be a fair and impartial ref, but will he?

I really hope Barrett wins cleanly here, but he is a heel. It was funny hearing Roddy Piper saying that Cena would be spitting in the face of all the Legends if he helped Barrett win, but I can't think of any heel champions that won the title cleanly, except maybe Lesnar.

I expect Orton to hit an RKO on Barrett, get the pin, but Cena hesitates at two. Orton and Cena argue and Barrett sneaks the victory. It wouldn't totally be Cena's fault, as it would seem like a more instinctual reaction. I mean, his "career" is on the line.

Then again, it's the WWE and they'll find some way to have Orton win and keep Cena from being fired. It's called having your cake and eating it too. Then again, whatever happened to the new Superstar initiative? I mean, Barrett's ready for the main event. He's main-evented three PPVs now (going on four at SS).

As for Miz-ter Money in the Bank, I doubt he'll cash in, unless Orton wins. Barrett has the Nexus on his side. There's no way they'd let him get to Barrett. However, if by some miracle, Miz does cash in on Barrett and win, it'll ruin Wade. I mean, That will probably be the shortest title run in history. They wouldn't do that to "WWE's next breakout star."

WINNER: WADE BARRETT

Conclusion

8 of 8

So Survivor Series is looking to be pretty decent. If you are a fan of WWE, stop complaining and just watch the PPV. I doubt there'll be an Intercontinental Championship match, unless it's announced on Smackdown tonight (oops, I meant Friday).

As the last of the "Big Four" I have hopes that Survivor Series will be a good show. Royal Rumble was, Wrestlemania was, and besides the ending to the WWE title match, Summerslam was. As I said, no fan of WWE will want to miss this, as it may be the last one.
