Michael Vick: Seattle, Oakland and 5 Possible Destinations in 2011

Mike OsterbergNov 16, 2010

Michael Vick put on a performance last night against the Washington Redskins that saw him pile up 333 yards passing, 80 yards rushing and six total touchdowns.

His play will also help him pile up a ton of cash this coming offseason.

Vick will be at free agent at season's end, and his services will undoubtedly be desired by many teams around the league.

He's got a 115.1 QB rating this season, which is by far the highest in the league. In every game he's played in, his QB rating has been over 90.0. He's completing 62.7 percent of his passes, up from his career average of 54.4 percent. Vick looks like a man reborn in Philadelphia and there's a chance that he re-signs there.

Staying in Philadelphia is an option, but the bidding war will convince Vick to examine other cities. Here are five teams that could be battling for his signature in the offseason.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle is 5-4 this year under Pete Carroll in a weak NFC West, and they've achieved that record despite inconsistent play from the quarterback position.

Matt Hasselbeck is 35 and again battling nagging injuries. Charlie Whitehurst isn't the long-term answer, so why wouldn't Pete Carroll and the Seahawks take a look at Vick?

They're near the bottom of the league in rushing at a paltry 86.6 YPG. The presence of Vick would immediately help them in that department as he can scramble at will and take pressure off Justin Forsett and Marshawn Lynch.

Vick is also great at throwing the deep ball, as we saw last night in Washington. In Deon Butler, the Seahawks have a player who can stretch the field and chase down those 65-yard strikes that Vick throws so well. Butler is only averaging about 10 YPC this season, but those numbers would improve with Vick in the fold.

Vick is, by all accounts, a great teammate and hard worker, something Pete Carroll would love to have on his roster.

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have been playing well this year, but it's largely a facade. They are 5-4 and in first place in the AFC West, but only two of those wins came from outside of their division.

Besides that, when has Al Davis ever been averse to throwing around money and upgrading?

Jason Campbell has been good, not great, this season, and the position as a whole has averaged only 198.8 YPG, good for 25th in the league.

Vick has the cannon arm that Davis dreams about, and he could put it to good use with guys like Darrius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford and Johnnie Lee Higgins streaking up the sideline.

The Raiders have a strong rushing attack this season and Vick would only make it stronger.

Despite the (relative) success the Raiders are having this year, expect Davis and the Raiders to be big players in the Michael Vick sweepstakes.

Minnesota Vikings

Brett Favre is not playing next season, and rightfully so. He has already come out and admitted as much, and I believe him this time. He has nothing left.

Tarvaris Jackson is not the answer, either. He has gotten chances in the past and he has failed to capitalize on the opportunity. The Vikings do not want to go into the 2011 season with Jackson as their starter.

Michael Vick could be the answer. Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin would benefit greatly from Vick, as his arm has unlimited range.

Besides that, can you imagine a backfield that had Vick teaming with Adrian Peterson in the running game? Defensive coordinators would have many a sleepless night trying to prepare for a rushing attack of that magnitude.

Vick would look good in purple and gold, and I'm sure whoever is the coach of the Vikings in 2011 would love to have Vick as his signal-caller.

The Cardinals have plenty of problems all over the field, but their questions at quarterback could be answered by Michael Vick.

They're only a year removed from the playoffs and two years removed from the Super Bowl, so you have to believe that the core of this team is better than they are leading on.

The defense has been poor, as has the rushing attack, but the quarterback position has been an abject failure this season. Derek Anderson is awful, and I don't think Larry Fitzgerald would be able to stomach another season watching Max Hall underthrow him.

Vick could immediately come in and impact this team in a big way.

Ken Whisenhunt is a talented young coach, and there's no doubt that he could draw up an offensive scheme that would utilize Vick's skill set to the best of his ability.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are a solid team at 5-4, a record accomplished with suspect quarterback play. Chad Henne hasn't been the quarterback they hoped for, making poor decisions to the tune of 11 interceptions.

The 5-4 record is especially impressive in the AFC East, a strong division that has the New York Jets and the New England Patriots sitting at the top.

Vick's presence could put the Dolphins over the top and get them in the discussion for division champs next season.

The wildcat attack has been largely stifled this season, and if Tony Sparano is committed to it, Vick could revitalize it.

He would also have Brandon Marshall to throw to, a receiver who is considered one of the best deep-threat and yards-after-the-catch men in the league. He would love to see Vick back there throwing him deep balls.
