NFL Week 11 Fantasy Football: Start Colt McCoy, Sit Joe Flacco
Well, I hope everyone started Michael Vick last week, since he turned in a performance for the fantasy football record books.
But, despite his 49 point day, my fantasy advice still netted -5 points. Clearly, I need some help to get me back on track. When I said I was going to have a Brett Favre style comeback, I should have clarified by saying a 2009 style Brett Favre comeback, not 2010.
So, I've enlisted a celebrity source (it may or may not be my roommate) to help me with my picks this week. If he does as bad as I have these last couple weeks, feel free to post angry comments about him.
Now that my advice has netted a grand total of -7 points on the year, let's see if we can get that total back on the positive side.
Here's my (and my celebrity guest's) fantasy advice for Week 11.
QBs: Start Colt McCoy
1 of 8
In his four NFL starts, Colt McCoy has faced the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and New York Jets. Wow. Even more impressive is that his record in those games is 2-2.
This week, he faces the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team on the fringe of playoff contention, that has the NFL's fourth worst pass defense. The Jags allow over 270 passing yards per game.
Look for McCoy to post some solid numbers this week in his first game against a team that probably won't make the playoffs.
QBs: Sit Joe Flacco
2 of 8
After a tough loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, the Baltimore Ravens have 10 days to prepare for the Carolina Panthers.
Even though Flacco has posted over 15 fantasy points the last five weeks, my celebrity picker insists there's no reason to worry.
That's because the Ravens are going to be up by a lot early and their running game will be so successful they won't really need to pass all that often.
The Panthers may not score at all, with Ray Lewis and the Ravens' defense shutting down rookie QBs Tony Pike and Jimmy Clausen.
RBs: Start Cedric Benson
3 of 8
If Cedric Benson is ever going to get his season on track, it has to start this week. The Cincinnati Bengals are playing the Buffalo Bills, the team with the worst run defense in the NFL.
Benson has been disappointing all year long. When he has a good game, he always follows it up with a horrible game.
Last week, he was horrible. That means he should do well this week. Plus, he might be playing for his job, as head coach Marvin Lewis will probably be fired after the season.
RBs: Sit LeSean McCoy
4 of 8
LeSean McCoy has only scored one touchdown in his last four games. Things won't get any easier for him this week when he plays the New York Giants.
The Giants have the third best run defense in the NFL, allowing under 85 yards per game.
Even though their defense was awful last week against the Dallas Cowboys, they are still one of the best. Look for them to bounce back this week against the Eagles, limiting McCoy to four or five points.
WRs: Start Dez Bryant
5 of 8
Dez Bryant has been one of the very few bright spots for the Dallas Cowboys this year. No matter what the score is, Bryant plays hard.
After starting his rookie campaign with zero touchdowns in his first four games, Bryant now has five touchdowns in his last five games.
Look for his hot streak to continue this week against a Detroit Lions defense that is on the ropes after losing to the Buffalo Bills last week.
WRs: Sit Brandon Marshall
6 of 8
Brandon Marshall has only posted two double digit fantasy games this season. That's not what the Miami Dolphins were hoping for when they got him.
Now, the Dolphins will be forced to start Tyler Thigpen at quarterback after losing Chad Henne and Chad Pennington to injuries last week.
Things are going to get worse before they get better for Marshall.
TEs: Start Zach Miller
7 of 8
As my celebrity guest picker astutely pointed out, the Steelers allowed a ton of points to Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski on Sunday night.
They won't allow as many points to Zach Miller, but Miller will still be a focal point of the Raiders' offense this week.
After all, the Raiders won't be able to run or throw deep on the Steelers' defense, so they'll need Miller to be a target in the middle of the field.
WARNING: Miller has been battling an injury, so make sure he's actually playing before you put him in your starting lineup. If he's not playing, start Jeremy Shockey against the Seahawks.
TEs: Sit Chris Cooley
8 of 8
Chris Cooley is projected to have a big week this week, but don't buy it. Even though the Washington Redskins are playing a Tennessee Titans defense that has struggled against the pass, Cooley hasn't been a fantasy factor in a long time.
With all the turmoil surrounding the Redskins and the recent play of Donovan McNabb, you shouldn't have Cooley anywhere near your starting lineup.
