Old School WWF Monday Night Raw: What Can We Expect?

Micheal RobinsonNov 14, 2010

Since Jan. 11, 1993, WWE has entertained us with a show known as Monday Night Raw.

Many superstars have graced the squared circle and reappeared from time to time to let us know they are still around.

However, this time, WWE is advertising a return to the days that made Raw what it is today.

WWE will be running a special three-hour Monday Night Raw from Hershey, Pa. this week. This isn't just any Raw, it is an Old School Raw.

WWE has been advertising this episode since last week and have also played the old Raw theme, along with displaying the old WWF and USA logos.

Now, what can we expect?  Should we get excited?

Some stars we can expect to show up/perform are Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Ted DiBiase, Dusty Rhodes and the Iron Sheik.

All of these men are advertised on WWE's website and could appear.

Also, it looks like "Mean" Gene Okerlund is going to be on hand for most of the evening doing backstage work.

A few wrestling sites have reported that Tatanka is scheduled to be on hand as well.

I am not going to sit back and expect a big star to come out that we haven't seen in a while because I will just let myself down, like I have in the past.

What I would like to see and ask for, is for the WWE to do this right if they are going to do it.

Use the old logo throughout the entire show, along with the old red, white and blue ring ropes.

I wouldn't mind if they tweaked the entrance way either, making it look like the old one with the flashing neon lights.

Also, it would be nice to see Jim Ross, who is still employed with WWE, back behind the announcers table for a night.  Anyone else sick of Michael Cole?

Shawn Michaels appeared with Triple H last Thursday at the Georgia Dome before the Atlanta Falcons game, I was lucky enough to be in attendance at that game when they appeared during pre-game warmups.

It is very interesting that Shawn Michaels would be promoting WrestleMania 27 when he is no longer an active wrestler.

Just the fact that he appears makes me wonder how they plan on using him in the future or if we could see him pop up for a surprise visit this Monday in Hershey...nah, who am I kidding?

With other WWE wrestlers on the European tour, it seems as if WWE reached out to HBK to help promote WrestleMania this past week.

A return for HBK at this week's Raw isn't likely, but you just never know.

WWE Raw will be very interesting this week and ratings will increase just in sheer curiosity alone, even with the contending Eagles vs. Redskins Monday Night Football game.

I am not expected to be let down this Monday because I haven't got my hopes all high.

However, a surprise or two never hurts.
