Jets vs. Browns: Peyton Hillis, Braylon Edwards and the Ryan Brothers
Peyton Hillis is becoming one of the big stories of the NFL this season, as his bruising running style has been just decimating opposing defensive lines.
But Hillis isn't the only big storyline heading into Sunday's game as the Browns take on the New York Jets. There's the Braylon Edwards drama, questions on how effective each quarterback is going to be, and of course, the Ryan brothers.
This game is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ones of the week, so here's a breakdown of what you can expect to see.
Peyton Hillis
1 of 8
Peyton Hillis will be the featured back, and it's not going to matter that the Jets have the fourth-ranked run defense in the league.
Hillis didn't care how good the Ravens defense was, or the Saints, or the Steelers, or the Patriots, so you can throw that stat out the window.
Hillis is the type of runner who blows run-blocking statistics into space.
Mark Sanchez
2 of 8
Mark Sanchez played a great game last week, rallying his team to a fourth quarter comeback and an overtime win. He's the King of the Universe now, so let's just go ahead and put him in the Hall of Fame. (Sarcastic Emoticon Here)
Everybody just take one step back and calm down. Let's just assume for a second Sanchez indeed has turned a corner and last week's game will represent a turning point.
There, we've made that assumption, now let's look at some facts.
That was one game, and Sanchez by no means is the second coming of John Elway or Joe Montana at this point in his career.
Fact: The Jets are turning the ball over at an alarming rate the last two games, and the Browns are taking the ball away at an alarming rate the last two games.
Sanchez will have to be perfect, or last week will be a distant memory for him.
Braylon Edwards
3 of 8
Braylon Edwards is remembered for two things in Cleveland: punching LeBron James' friend in the face prior to LeBron becoming the biggest jerk to come out of Cleveland sports since Art Modell, and drops.
Lots of drops.
Lots and lots and lots of drops.
But that's not Edwards' fault. Nope. All those passes he dropped were because Cleveland fans didn't appreciate him because he came from Michigan and was just too big and too classy for Cleveland.
It wasn't because he has horrible hands, it was everyone else's fault. Just as I'm sure his DUI was a grand conspiracy by Cleveland fans to infiltrate the NYPD and pull him over and just make stuff up, because Edwards is perfect.
Didn't you know that?
Anyway, Edwards actually has had a pretty good year, but it's a Sunday afternoon game at 1 p.m.
Get ready to hear cheers for a change in Cleveland when Edwards drops a few big passes.
Colt McCoy
4 of 8
Colt McCoy hasn't done a lot of passing, or throwing of deep routes so far, but that could change on Sunday.
Not that McCoy make challenge Darrelle Revis, but don't be surprised to see McCoy try and spread the field out and then use that advantage to have a good day in the air.
Ryan Vs. Ryan
5 of 8
Rex Ryan has a lot to think about this weekend as he takes on his brother's defensive unit.
It's safe to say there's little Rob Ryan can do that Rex hasn't seen before, or discussed with his brother over the years, but there's always something new to come up with.
Rex will be ready for Rob's UFO defense, but the question is if the players will be. Sanchez can prepare all he wants, but if Rob pulls a new twist out, Sanchez may not be able to adjust fast enough.
Eric Mangini
6 of 8
This probably is a bigger game for Eric Mangini than last week's contest versus Bill Belichick. Mangini has beat Belichick before when he was in New York, but this will be his first contest against the team that fired him after the 2008 season and the Brett Favre debacle.
Make no mistake about this, Mangini WANTS this victory more than anyone else on that field. You could put good money on that bet and come away a very rich person.
Browns Fans
7 of 8
The fans will be a factor in this game. The Browns have won a few games, and fans are talking playoffs.
Whether or not the Browns have a realistic chance of making the playoffs at this point is moot. Mathematically they're now back in it, and the fans are latching on to that excitement.
Between the hopeful atmosphere that has come back to Cleveland Browns Stadium, and the prospect of watching Braylon Edwards fail and Colt McCoy and Peyton Hillis succeed, this is going to be a wild game.
Who Wins?
8 of 8
The Browns, of course.
