Fantasy Football Week 10: 20 Start'em, Sit'em Locks To Win Your Matchup
Fantasy football Week 10 is upon us and as we wind down the week it's time to look at who to start and who to sit this weekend.
The playoffs are in just a few weeks and making the right decisions is crucial in getting that spot to the big dance. I've given you 10 players to start and 10 to sit and if you agree or disagree with my choices, I'd love to hear it.
If there's a player you have a strong feeling about or just have any lineup or trade questions, I'd be more than happy to hear those as well. Good luck to everyone this week!
No. 10 Start: Shaun Hill
1 of 20
Shaun Hill will be back under center for the Detroit Lions and the first run he had was very successful.
There wasn't much of a drop off in production and he had a connection with Calvin Johnson in the passing game. Plus, he's going up against Buffalo this week and that's a defense you can move the ball on pretty regularly.
I'd start him with confidence.
No. 10 Sit: BenJarvis Green-Ellis
2 of 20
The Law Firm struggled against the Browns last week so I don't see much hope for him against the Steelers this week.
Danny Woodhead is more of an option for the Patriots in this game and has been more effective at times for the New England. Green-Ellis doesn't get a lot of touches as it is and with that Pittsburgh defense, I wouldn't hold my breath that they're productive ones.
Look elsewhere if you have him.
No. 9 Start: Dustin Keller
3 of 20
His production has slipped as Mark Sanchez has struggled and with Cleveland causing issues for Tom Brady, I'd be worried here but not enough to sit him.
Keller made a few grabs and really turned it on late for the Jets in the overtime win against Detroit, which gives cause for hope, but he's a risky start at best. However, I think Keller's going to get things going against the Browns.
Sanchez looked good at the end of the game and I think it will carry over to this week.
No. 9 Sit: Troy Smith
4 of 20
Sure, Troy Smith played well against Denver, but that was the Broncos.
I'd go elsewhere at quarterback if that were possible. If you're out of options, you could do worse than Smith, but with the way the 49ers are, I just have no faith in him to have two good showings in a row. I could be wrong, but I'd rather play it safe.
Smith is riding my bench right now and he'll stay there.
No. 8 Start: Thomas Jones
5 of 20
I know I've said to start Thomas Jones on here plenty of times before. I know guys.
If you have, you've been disappointed in the decision to do so as we've been burned by him and the two back system in Kansas City. It's time to give him one more shot at this as the Chiefs take on the Broncos this week.
The Broncos were gashed by the Raiders and I think the Chiefs will do the same.
No. 8 Sit: Felix Jones
6 of 20
Felix Jones decided to put on muscle in the offseason and look what happened.
He's slow, almost looks out of shape and just has no burst like he did before this year. He's had an awful season and if you drafted him, you've either cut bait with him or he's been steadily riding your bench all year long.
Against the Giants and that defense, he should stay right there.
No. 7 Start: Visanthe Shiancoe
7 of 20
Randy Moss is out in Minnesota and Visanthe Shiancoe is now a productive member of the offense again.
That's clearly not a coincidence and Brett Favre is targeting his tight end a lot more and clearly trusts him in the passing game. Shiancoe was a beast last year and while he may not put up the same numbers as last year, he'll get his.
Start him and don't think twice.
No. 7 Sit: Owen Daniels
8 of 20
Owen Daniels has struggled this year, as has a large part of the Texans' passing game, and now the tight end is banged up.
If Daniels decides to go on Sunday, he has a poor track record when playing hurt and won't do anything for your team. I still don't trust Matt Schaub and I'm wary to start Daniels even if he was healthy in the passing game.
Just get another tight end and cut bait with Daniels.
No. 6 Start: Matt Cassel
9 of 20
Matt Cassel has really recovered from his poor play at the start of the season and has played well the past few weeks.
He won't get a ton of pass attempts, so be wary of him, but as a second quarterback or a spot starter if you have a bye week, you could do much worse than Cassel at the quarterback spot. He's been finding Dwayne Bowe a lot and that boosts his value.
Plus it's the Broncos; it's a pretty safe start.
No. 6 Sit: LeGarrette Blount
10 of 20
If you're one of those owners out there who picked up LeGarrette Blount after his huge game against the Cardinals, it's time to leave him on the bench.
Blount struggles to pick up the pass protection when he's on the field and it has limited how long he's able to be in the game for the Buccaneers, and it's killing his value. It's why the Titans cut him in the preseason and it's hurting him now.
Just leave him buried on your bench.
No. 5 Start: Randy Moss
11 of 20
Randy Moss has always put up big numbers in his first game with a team and this week should be no exception.
The Titans should have Vince Young under center and with Chris Johnson in the backfield, it's going to be a big day for Moss and company against the Dolphins. I think it's going to open up a lot of things for Tennessee offensively.
Look out for Randy this week.
No. 5 Sit: Roy Williams
12 of 20
Since Tony Romo was injured, Roy Williams' production has fallen through the floor.
Jon Kitna isn't half the quarterback that Romo is and there is no connection there like there was with Romo and Williams. I'd just abandon ship on Williams and look for other options that actually have a slight chance of producing.
It's only going to get uglier for the Cowboys.
No. 4 Start: Jamaal Charles
13 of 20
It's a two back system in Kansas City and if you have either one, it's time to start them.
Jamaal Charles has turned into what seems like the featured back in Kansas City, but you never know with the Chiefs because that seems to change each and every week. However, it's the Broncos so it's a favorable matchup.
You don't want to miss a big day and leave it on your bench.
No. 4 Sit: Derek Anderson
14 of 20
Sure, Derek Anderson had a good week against the Vikings, but what does your gut tell you?
Anderson is a mediocre quarterback at best and he's turned great weapons into a weak team that's struggling in the NFC West. I would stay far, far away from Anderson and move on. He's just not an option at this point.
There has to be a better option.
No. 3 Start: David Garrard
15 of 20
David Garrard is a shaky start, but I think he's a lock for a good game this week.
He's playing the Texans this week and Houston has the worst pass defense in the league and Garrard can exploit weak secondaries. Dallas found out the hard way and so will Houston as Garrard carves them up in the passing game.
I'd have him cemented in my starting lineup.
No. 3 Sit: Matt Hasselbeck
16 of 20
Matt Hasselbeck has been nothing short of forgettable this year and he's not even an option as a spot start at this point.
He's just not a good fantasy quarterback and even though players in the offense may produce, Hasselbeck will not put up the type of numbers that cannot be acceptable in your starting lineup. There's a better option out there.
Trust me. There is.
No. 2 Start: Mike Williams
17 of 20
While Matt Hasselbeck may be a bench player waiting to happen, Mike Williams is not.
The last time Seattle played Arizona, Williams went off against the Cardinals and if you have him, there's no reason not to start him this week. Sure he struggled a bit in his last game, but I'm willing to ignore it and throw him in the starting lineup.
The Cardinals are awful against the pass and I think Williams will get the ball the few times the Seahawks rely on Hasselbeck.
No. 2 Sit: Wes Welker
18 of 20
Oh Wes, what has happened to you?
I know you had major knee surgery and all but you started out the season so well and now you're not even worth starting on a week-to-week basis anymore. It's sad but true and Welker should find your bench until he finds himself again.
That may be next September at this rate.
No. 1 Start: Matt Schaub
19 of 20
Normally, this would be a no brainer, but with the way Matt Schaub's season has gone, nothing is a given.
If you're like me, you drafted Schaub with the hope that he would continue his monster numbers as the Texans made a huge playoff push this year. That hasn't exactly happened and his last couple of games have been real stinkers.
However, he's going against Jacksonville, who isn't great against the pass and I'd have him in the lineup.
No. 1 Sit: Brett Favre
20 of 20
Don't be fooled by the Old Gunslinger. Just because he had a monster game last week doesn't mean you should rush to start him.
Brett Favre took advantage of a weak Cardinals secondary and exploited it all day long for one of the best passing games of his career. However, don't forget that this is Favre and he's going against the Bears, who have a much better defense.
Leave him on the bench unless you have no choice.
