Fantasy Football Week 10: 20 Best Flex Position Point Stars This Week
Fantasy Football Week 10 is on my mind. But for my next article, I want to steer away from all the muck of the defense and kicker positions. You could really throw anyone in that slot. I want to concentrate on the flex position.
Here are the best running backs and wide receivers to fill in your flex spot if your league allows. Some of you even allow tight ends. So don't be surprised to see some of those here as well.
20. Knowshon Moreno RB (Denver Broncos)
1 of 20
This week Moreno gets the Chiefs at home. In two games against Kansas City, he has four touchdowns. With Moreno being the only threat the Broncos have at running back, look for him to punch one in.
Projections are down on him this week. I am playing a hunch here.
19. Jahvid Best RB (Detroit Lions)
2 of 20
Best has had a rough few weeks. After starting the season on a tear, he has slowed in production as of late.
This will be a good weekend for Best. The Lions face a Bills team that is soft on defense. With Stafford out, the Lions will rely heavily on their running attack. You will still want to monitor his status. He currently has a toe injury and is probable for Sunday.
18. Matt Forte RB (Chicago Bears)
3 of 20
Matt Forte did not fare well his first go around with the Vikings. This week he gets them at home and with a new and improved Jay Cutler.
With Cutler spreading the field and Forte getting more touches. He should get more than enough points for you to be fat and giggly on your couch this Sunday.
17. Larry Fitzgerald WR (Arizona Cardinals)
4 of 20
Larry has been old faithful for the Cardinals. No matter who they decide to go with at QB, Fitzgerald will be there with open arms.
Consistency is a rarity in fantasy football. It is nice to count on a solid 10-11 points for your flex position, especially in deeper leagues.
16. Percy Harvin WR (Minnesota Vikings)
5 of 20
It pains me to suggest Harvin because of his constant injuries. His ankle did not seem to bother him too much against the Cardinals. He is listed as probable for this Sunday. I can only assume that his ankle gets better throughout the week.
15. Reggie Wayne WR (Indianapolis Colts)
6 of 20
Manning and company should get back on track against the Bengals this weekend. Without a nationally televised game like Monday Night to spark them, they should be pretty soft on defense. Wayne should get more touches as Austin Collie grapples with the hit he received on Sunday.
14. Anquan Boldin WR (Baltimore Ravens)
7 of 20
No one is happier for Joe Flacco in finding his touch again as is Anquan Boldin. Now balls are finally finding his vicinity. I don't see any reason that Boldin can't get 13-14 points, even against a tougher Falcons defense.
13. Ahmad Bradshaw RB (New York Giants)
8 of 20
Every team has a go to guy to punch in touchdowns in short yardage situations. It was quite clear after their last game, the Giants love to have the ball in Bradshaw's hands.
As the Giants take on the Cowboys this week, I am sure Bradshaw will find many opportunities to make himself useful.
12. Peyton Hillis RB (Cleveland Browns)
9 of 20
I would like to post Hillis higher as he had quite the game last Sunday. But going into a game against the Jets, you have to reserve your high expectations for another week.
Hillis will still be the featured back and will no doubt place 12-13 points into your flex spot.
11. DeSean Jackson WR (Philadelphia Eagles)
10 of 20
Michael Vick is back. This means that every defender has to slough off of their receivers a tad in expectation of a run that may come from the QB at any time.
Jackson benefited tremendously last weekend in Vick's return. He showed no ill signs of the concussion he suffered from the previous week. Look for more of the same production this Sunday.
10. Terrell Owens WR (Cincinnati Bengals)
11 of 20
I will take Monday's game with a grain of salt. However, there is a lot to like about Owens game against the Steelers. He had over 140 yards receiving with two touchdowns.
If Carson Palmer can get him the ball, Owens is still one of the best in the game.
9. LeSean McCoy RB (Philadelphia Eagles)
12 of 20
The Eagles have so many weapons, it is seemingly unfair. McCoy has had a breakout season so far and I don't see him slowing down.
It is amazing to see how McCoy finds holes where none seemingly exist.
8. Rashard Mendenhall RB (Pittsburgh Steelers)
13 of 20
Every week the Steelers will enforce a balanced offensive attack. Mendenhall has been the perfect player for the system.
He seems to always be on the cusp of a 100 yard game while having a rushing touchdown.
7. Ray Rice RB (Baltimore Ravens)
14 of 20
The Falcons are quite afraid of the Ravens passing game. You can be sure that is exactly what they are trying to prevent during the week.
Whatever defense they throw at the prolific Ravens offense, you can be sure that Ray Rice will benefit. Flacco has been stretching the field more in the past weeks. I can say with certainty that Rice will end his three game streak of not scoring when he takes on the Falcons.
6. Calvin Johnson WR (Detroit Lions)
15 of 20
If the Lions do not win this weekend, it will not be from a lack of scoring. The Bills defense is a playground that quarterbacks and receivers love to play in.
Calvin Johnson should find the end zone on Sunday. That will go nicely with his 150 yards receiving.
5. Maurice Jones-Drew RB (Jacksonville Jaguars)
16 of 20
I have no idea what Jaguars team will show up on game day. One week they look like the worst team in the history of football. The next they look like playoff contenders as they did in their win over the Colts.
All that is meaningless to us fantasy owners that understand that up or down, Maurice Jones-Drew will dominate. All he needs is the ball and he will net you solid points.
4. Frank Gore RB (San Francisco 49ers)
17 of 20
Frank Gore has been the lone bright spot on a tumultuous year for San Francisco. This week they take on division rivals the St. Louis Rams.
The Rams have a wild defense that takes a lot of chances. Frank Gore should thrive in that circumstance. If Alex Smith can find his way back from a shoulder injury, Gore could be one of the better fantasy players this week.
3. Adrian Peterson RB (Minnesota Vikings)
18 of 20
If you looked at highlights of just Adrian Peterson this season. Then you only looked at his stat line and no one else's stats on the Vikings. You might assume that the team was killing it this year.
Instead, Peterson is the only good news that the Vikings have this year. That should come as great comfort for those who drafted him with their first pick.
2. Chris Johnson RB (Tennessee Titans)
19 of 20
Johnson has not had the type of season that he did last year. His numbers are down, but that is about to change.
Vince Young is healthy and he now has a fresh new receiver to throw to in Randy Moss. Having a player of that caliber will stretch the defense. Now their opponent will not be able to concentrate all of their efforts in stopping Johnson. Look for one of his bigger games of the season.
1. Arian Foster RB (Houston Texans)
20 of 20
Arian Foster has been absolutely ridiculous this season. I guarantee the with a very soft rush defense in Jacksonville, Foster will end the day with over 150 yards carrying and a couple of touchdowns.
That would put him at over 1,000 yards on the season as well as over 10 TDs, not bad for half a season.
