Randy Moss: Why Moss Signing with the Tennessee Titans Equals a Scary Offense

Daniel WolfNov 3, 2010

Pro Bowl wide receiver Randy Moss, who was waived by the Minnesota Vikings, has found a new home with the Tennessee Titans now that they have claimed him off of waivers.

Moss brings his big play ability to an offense that was already potent with offensive weapons.

The Titans are right in the middle of a fight in the AFC South with both the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans to win the crown, and Moss could be a piece of the puzzle that leaps the Titans over quarterback Peyton Manning and his Colts.

Having one of the NFL's few 2,000-plus-yard rushers in league history with running back Chris Johnson and emerging wide receiver Kenny Britt, Moss gives quarterback Vince Young another weapon in his arsenal.

Maybe since head coach Jeff Fisher is the longest tenured coach in the NFL right now, the Titans front office thought he could corral the Pro Bowler where others could not this season.

Well, at least for the last half of the season, since Moss will still be a free agent at season's end.

This is obviously a move for the Titans to win right now, and with all the weapons, they shouldn't have any trouble winning, but don't tell that to Peyton Manning, who will do everything in his power to win the division year in and year out.

Will Moss do the same for Tennessee?

Perhaps, but history says be wary of the receiver because he has been known to "take plays off" and not give 110 percent on the field all the time.

Maybe Fisher has a cure for that, but only time will tell.

There is no doubt that Moss brings a whole different level of preparation when opposing teams face the Titans, and as if Johnson, Britt and Young weren't enough to prepare for, now enter Moss.

Then again, if he doesn't get the ball, then it could be what has already happened in both New England and in Minnesota all over again and for a third time this season.

We can only watch things unfold now.
