Randy Moss Ending Up in a Titans Uniform Highly Unlikely

Chad MintonNov 2, 2010

Just four weeks ago Randy Moss was making his triumphant return to his old team, or so we thought.

To everyone's surprise, he's now on waivers and some team will claim him before the end of the week.

Moss will go through the waiver process starting with the worst team in NFL, going all the way down to the 6-1 New England Patriots.

After the hamstring injury to Kenny Britt, many Titans players came rushing to Jeff Fisher telling them to go get Moss if he makes it past all of the other teams ahead of them on the waiver wire.

Fisher has already stated that they're taking a hard look at Moss, but it's still very unlikely that Moss won't be claimed by one of the 20-plus teams that are ahead of the Titans.

Teams like the Rams, Raiders, Browns, and a handful of others are all potential suitors for Moss.

The clock is ticking for teams to claim him, as the deadline is Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Of course all of this could end very quickly if the Bills decide to add Moss despite having zero chance at making the playoffs. The Bills will get the first crack at Moss.

Even if Moss does fall all the way down to the Titans, who sit 22nd on the waiver order, it would still be unlikely. The Titans historically have never taken big chances on high-profile guys, and I doubt they're going to start now.

Owner Bud Adams and Fisher are both set in their ways and if they decided to add a controversial character like Moss to the locker room it would be one of the biggest surprise moves ever by the organization.

The Titans don't like to spend too much money, so picking up the burden of Moss's $6.4 million contract just isn't going to happen.

It's nice to think about Vince Young having a deep threat like Moss to throw to. The threat of Moss would free up guys like Nate Washington and Damian Williams, but overall it just isn't a good fit.

Young doesn't throw the deep ball very well and is more of a short yardage passer. If Moss wasn't happy with Favre throwing him the ball then how do you think he's going to act when Young is throwing short little crossing routes instead of bombs down the sideline.

The way the Titans' group of receivers are finally starting to hit their stride tells us that the Titans don't need Moss to be successful in the passing game.

In the end, it really doesn' t matter because Moss won't slip past 21 other teams to get to the Titans.
