Fantasy Football: The 10 Most Surprising Performances Of The First Half
In fantasy football terms we're at the halfway point of the season. Many storylines have been written, but I thought I'd take a closer look at the individual performances that have shaped fantasy perceptions. While one game changing performance doesn't win a title, it sure makes for a week of knock out smack talk. And that's what it's all about.
Here's a look at the ten most surprising performances of the 2010 season.
Arian Foster Runs Wild on The Colts
1 of 11
Arian Foster picked up a lot of steam in fantasy drafts leading up to the season opener. While most fantasy owners thought he'd have a solid opener against the Colts, nobody could have predicted the coming out party Foster had. He hung 231 rushing yards, seven receiving yards, and three touchdowns.
Welcome Back Michael Vick
2 of 11
When Kevin Kolb went down in the opener, Vick was thrust into the spotlight. Nobody thought he'd still have his speed...but he got it back. He also brought a passing touch that eluded him in the early part of his career. He was the most explosive player in the league before he also got banged up.
Kenny Britt Blows Up
3 of 11
Kenny Britt had 209 receiving yards in the first six weeks. He was briefly benched for an off-the-field incident. Then he blew up for 225 yards and three scores. He had a touchdown in each of his previous four games, but nobody thought he had that kind of performance in him.
T.O. Goes For 222
4 of 11
The T.O. experiment didn't look like it was going well in Cincinnati. He did not have a touchdown in the first three games. He only had 152 yards. Then he torches the Browns for 222 yards and a score on ten catches.
Peyton's Favorite Week One Pet: An Austin Collie
5 of 11
They say man's best friend is the dog, but in week one Peyton Manning's was Austin Collie. The second year wide receiver exploded with 11 catches for 163 yards and a score. He upped the ante in Week 3 with 12 catches for 171 yards and two touchdowns, but the first performance was more of a surprise because it came out of nowhere.
Jahvid Does His Best Against Philadelphia
6 of 11
Jahvid Best was an absolute beast in Week 2 against the Eagles. He ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He added 154 receiving yards and another touchdown. We knew he was explosive, but that game was ridiculous.
The Return Of Lance Moore
7 of 11
Lance Moore was a major disappointment in 2009. This season didn't start out much better as he had just three catches for 23 yards in the first two weeks. Then he explodes for 149 yards and two touchdowns against the Falcons. He hasn't reached 60 yards in a game since.
I Bet Terrell Suggs Knows Who Peyton Hillis Is Now
8 of 11
Terrell Suggs claims to have not know who Peyton Hillis was before the Browns and Ravens met. After 144 rushing yards, 36 receiving yards, and a rushing TD against Baltimore—I imagine he's quite familiar him.
David Garrard's Five Touchdown Game
9 of 11
David Garrard has had a fine season. In fact, he's had three games with three touchdowns. Five is craziness though!
Four through the air and one with his feet. The fact that it came after missing a game with an injury makes it all the more surprising.
Ryan Fitzpatrick's Big Day
10 of 11
Ryan Fitzpatrick has actually had a few big games for the Bills, but in Week 7 he threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns. He even added 20 yards on the ground. He's not winning, but he's at least making the Bills competitive.
