Randy Moss Cut: Top Reasons the Randy Moss Experiment Failed in Minnesota

Bear HeiserNov 1, 2010

Did anybody see this coming?

I guess that's probably a silly question because how could you have foreseen such a bizarre event.

We should have known better. How have we not learned from past events? His first exit from the Vikings, his time in Oakland, outbursts in New England.

I see this move as an opportunity for Brad Childress to remove the "bizarre" from his locker room.

Considering that you can't change crazy, maybe purging the roster of it is the way to go.

No. 5: Tom Brady's Hair

When Moss was on his way out of New England earlier this year, news broke that he got in an argument with Tom Brady over his haircut.

Something about Randy telling Tom he needed a haircut, which in turn, upset the "hair-do".

Some call what happened between Moss and Brady a fight, I call it a lovers quarrel. Or the "fight" may not have happened at all. I really have no idea.

The Vikings were a rebound team for Moss after his quarrel with the Patriots.

Isn't it supposed to happen that way when you are on the rebound? Act like you want to be there, give a little bit of effort while expecting maximum results in return, still profess love for your old flame.

When it comes to Randy Moss, all you can do is speculate.

No. 4: Brett Favre's Ankle

Say what you want about Randy Moss, but isn't Brett Favre much more high maintenance?

One week it's his elbow, the next it's his ankle, the next it's his thumb, the next it's his jaw. What could possibly be next?

Favre is not the most mobile quarterback in the league when he is healthy. He may have been able to escape 20-something pass rushers back in the day but that day is long gone.

No. 2: Brad Childress

There is no way Chilly can be feeling very chilly right now. Just one year after he led the Vikings to the NFC title game, his butt is on fire.

Knowing that his job is on the line, he had to make a move. Having to battle with Favre on one hand and then Moss on the other cannot be easy. The two of them are quite possibly the most high maintenance athletes the NFL has ever seen.

With Moss out of the way, Chilly is one step closer to regaining confidence and restoring order in the Minnesota locker room.

Is "headcase" a fair way to describe Randy Moss?

I know he said he wanted to leave New England--but what this what he had in mind?

Favre to Moss was supposed to happen four years ago when Brett was still in Green Bay. Not now.

At this stage, Moss can only run three pass routes. A standard deep route, a slant, and a curl. He doesn't have much versatility anymore. When he runs those routes, he is one of the best in the game.

When he doesn't?

He becomes a huge liability on the field.

It's been years since Randy has finished running his routes, years since he has gone full bore on every play, and years since he has managed to play a full season without controversy.

When people get old, they tend to get cranky.

Hey Randy!--You aren't that OLD!

I have heard the Hall of Fame takes egos, but they prefer it if you leave it at the door.

Figure it out before it's too late my man.
