Week 9 NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Advice: Get 'em or Don't Sweat 'em
There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.
This is a special Halloween edition. Instead of the usual Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em rulings, it will be trick (don’t sweat) or treat (get).

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
Garrard may have been dropped after his 49-yard game and injury. He came back with a monster effort (four TDs passing, one rushing) vs. a lifeless Cowboys team. He completed 17 of his 21 passes for 260 yards.
Ruling: Treat
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Stafford is back, throwing for four TDs. How long will he stay healthy? Hard to say, but until he gets hurt again, he should probably be on a squad.
Ruling: Treat
Troy Smith, San Francisco 49ers
He threw for a TD and ran for another one, but he had just 196 yards passing and two yards rushing. He may improve the Niners' chances of winning, but I wouldn’t call him a fantasy option.
Ruling: Trick
Jason Campbell, Oakland Raiders
Campbell threw for 310 yards and a pair of TDs against the Seahawks. It was his second straight game with double-digit TDs. With KC, a bye and Pittsburgh coming up, I’d look elsewhere.
Ruling: Trick
Running Backs
Marion Barber III, Dallas Cowboys
MB3 had 16 yards and his first score since Week 3. If you had to play him because of the bye week, good for you. I’m afraid he’s only an option in TD-heavy leagues, not that he’s a good bet to score each week, but he has just 94 total yards in the past four games.
Ruling: Trick
Keiland Williams, Washington Redskins
Williams had 25 yards and a score on six attempts. Ryan Torain left with a hamstring injury and Clinton Portis is an unknown so you have to get him in case he’s the starting RB when they come off of the bye.
Ruling: Treat
Marcel Reece, Oakland Raiders
Reece caught three passes for 90 yards and a score. He added 32 yards on the ground. They’ve outscored their opponents 92-17 the past two weeks, which means there is more to go around. I don’t see that happening again until at least Week 14.
Ruling: Trick
LaRod Stephens-Howling, Arizona Cardinals
Stephens-Howling almost had to have a good game since it was Halloween, but despite his four carries for 41 yards and a score, he’s not a good option going forward.
Ruling: Trick
Wide Receivers
Mike Sims-Walker, Jacksonville Jaguars
He’s a frustrating player. He had 134 yards the past five weeks and he explodes for 153 yards and a score against Dallas. Consistency could be an issue, but he does have four TDs on the year. Plus, he plays Houston and Cleveland after their bye.
Ruling: Treat
Brandon LaFell, Carolina Panthers
LaFell followed up his 91-yard game with four catches for 40 yards and a score. Not performances that blow you away, but I can see adding him as bench depth. I just wouldn’t make him a top priority.
Ruling: Trick
Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans
Washington had four catches for 117 yards and a score. He was aided by a 71-yard TD. With the Titans going on bye, he’s not a player I’d grab this week.
Ruling: Trick
Darrius Heyward-Bey, Oakland Raiders
DHB caught five passes for 105 yards and a score. He’s improved his bust status, but is still too inconsistent for fantasy teams.
Ruling: Trick
Brandon Tate, New England Patriots
Tate had three catches for 101 yards and a score. It’s almost like the old days with the Patriots when you couldn’t rely on any particular WR from week to week.
Ruling: Trick
Tight Ends
Daniel Fells, St. Louis Rams
Fells caught four passes for 35 yards and a score. He had just two catches for 13 yards the previous two weeks. His fluke factor is high
Ruling: Trick
