NFL Week 6 Fantasy Football: Start Eli Manning, Sit Tom Brady and More
It's already Week 6 in the NFL, which means fantasy league standings are starting to take shape. You should be starting to get a feel for where your team stands and what spots need improvement.
Every week, there are surprises and disappointments at every position, but that's the beauty of fantasy football. Trying to outsmart your opponent is the name of the game.
But let's be honest. Everyone needs help from time to time.
That's why there are slideshows like this to help you sort through the statistical mess that is the NFL.
Here are some people to start and people to sit at every position for Week 6.
Quarterbacks: Start Eli Manning
1 of 8
Last week against the Houston Texans, Eli Manning threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns. This week, he gets to face another weak pass defense when the New York Giants take on the Detroit Lions.
Manning seems to have a new favorite receiver in Hakeem Nicks. Nicks was on the receiving end of two of Manning's three touchdown passes.
Look for Eli to build on last week's good game this week against Detroit. Interceptions are always a concern, but he'll avoid them this week.
Quarterbacks: Sit Tom Brady
2 of 8
This will be Tom Brady's first game without Randy Moss since 2007. Plus, he has to face a Baltimore Ravens secondary that has vastly exceeded expectations up to this point.
Though the Pats have one of the best young tight end duos in the game with Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski, the Ravens can key in on them since Moss won't be demanding a double team every play.
Also, look for Wes Welker to have a subpar fantasy day as well, as he learns to adjust his patterns in the Moss-less offense.
Running Backs: Start Ronnie Brown
3 of 8
This week, Ronnie Brown's Miami Dolphins take on an injury-riddled Green Bay Packers team.
The Packers have been dealing with injuries to defensive linemen, linebackers and defensive backs (basically the entire defense). That means Dom Capers' squad won't be good enough to stop the Dolphins' two-headed rushing attack.
Plus, the Dolphins should have the lead late in the game, which means plenty of chances for Brown to pad his stats.
Running Backs: Sit Matt Forte
4 of 8
The Chicago Bears will win their game at home against the Seattle Seahawks. Jay Cutler will return to the starting lineup and throw the ball all over the Seahawks weak secondary.
Unfortunately, that means less chances for Forte. While he is still a weapon in the passing game at times, he won't be asked to carry the offense like he did last week when Todd Collins was the quarterback.
There will be plenty of other running backs who will put up more points than Forte this week.
Wide Receivers: Start Kenny Britt
5 of 8
Kenny Britt has caught a touchdown pass in each of the last three games for the Tennessee Titans.
This week, the Titans play the Jacksonville Jaguars under the lights on Monday Night Football. This is Britt's chance to show the world what he can do.
Look for him to extend his consecutive games with a touchdown catch to four.
Wide Receivers: Sit Randy Moss
6 of 8
Brett Favre's elbow is really bothering him, and it will affect his deep throws this week, whether he wants to admit it or not.
That will directly affect Randy Moss's production, as the Vikings will have to rely primarily on shorter routes.
Add in the fact that Moss still hasn't had much time to learn the Vikings' offense, and it's probably best if you keep him on your bench this week.
Tight Ends: Start Andrew Quarless
7 of 8
When the Green Bay Packers lost tight end Jermichael Finley last week, it was a huge blow to their offense.
While there is no replacing Finley, rookie Andrew Quarless will try his best.
Quarless looked like he had a firm grasp of the offense late in last week's game, and now that he will have a few reps in practice with the first string, look for him to put up pretty decent numbers against the Miami Dolphins this week.
Tight Ends: Sit Brent Celek
8 of 8
The Atlanta Falcons' defense has had multiple interceptions in each of its last four games, and the Falcons are playing like the best team in the NFC.
That doesn't bode well for Brent Celek and the Philadelphia Eagles, who have another quarterback controversy going into this week. Michael Vick says he will be back from injury and doesn't need practice in order to play, but Kevin Kolb played well last week, leading the Eagles to a win on the road.
Who will Andy Reid start? Whoever gets the nod at quarterback, sit Brent Celek.
