NFL Week 6 Power Rankings: Where Do the Patriots Rank After the Bye?

Rob BeloteOct 14, 2010

The New England Patriots seem like a different team than they were during their Week 4 game. Losing Randy Moss is a big deal, and yet the Patriots have won Super Bowls without all-time wide receivers like him.

And seriously, let's not forget about Wes Welker and the success the Patriots have achieved even in games where Moss was unproductive.

That said, over at my site—www.GuysNation.com—I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams.  It's a hugely subjective process in which I try to account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses.

Where did I rank the New England Patriots?

Some people feel that when a team has a bye week, they should typically maintain whatever spot they had in the Power Rankings, but that is disregarding quite a few things.

Opponents who the Patriots have played continue to make their case as strong competitors or weaker than previously thought. That affects the strength of the outcomes New England had in their first few weeks of the season.

In addition to that, other teams on the list shift around, some moving ahead of the Patriots with strong showings, others dropping behind them.

Last week, the Patriots were holding onto the No. 6 spot.

Surely they stayed in the top 10, right?

Were they able to crack the top 5?

The New York Jets got another win, making that loss even more acceptable. But none of the teams the Patriots have beaten picked up a victory in Week 5. Buffalo and Cincinnati lost, and the Dolphins had a bye week.

For the complete rankings and analysis, check out the article on my website, www.GuysNation.com!

Unlike Power Rankings you see elsewhere, your comments could help persuade me to rank your team better after Week 6!
