Patriots vs. Dolphins: Woodhead, Chung Overwhelmed Dolphins In South Beach

Tony SantorsaOct 4, 2010

MIAMI - The New England Patriots now share the top of the AFC East with the New York Jets after an impressive victory over the Miami Dolphins 41-14 in South Beach.

New England put out a record-breaking performance; the Patriots are now the only team in NFL history to score five touchdowns in five different ways: rushing, passing, kick-return, field goal block, and an interception return.

The Patriots were moving fluently in all three phases of the game.

Pats' quarterback, Tom Brady, looked extremely sharp and put up very "Brady-like" numbers. Brady threw one touchdown while completing 19 of 24 passes for 153 yards.

When Brady wasn't finding the open man, the offense had no problem running the ball.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead ran for a combined 112 yards with Green-Ellis scoring once.

On the other side of the ball, New England, however, did give up 400 yards of offensive, but played like the Patriots defense of the early 2000's. They had a "bend-not-break" mentality.

Outside linebacker, Rob Ninkovich, intercepted Chad Henne twice while safety Patrick Chung snagged a pick himself.

Not only did Chung intercept Henne, Chung blocked a punt. It was an all-around team effort for Chung.

And not to mention, Brandon Tate electrified the team entering the second half with a 103 yard kick-off return, making his total of two kick-returns for touchdowns on the season.

New England looked great tonight. They played like a team, and looked a lot like the Super Bowl winning 2001 Patriots. When the offense struggled, the defense or special teams picked up their slack, and visa-versa.

The Patriots enter the bye week with a very impressive victory over Miami while the team's defense is gaining confidence moving forward.
