Michael Vick Injured and the NFL's Seven Biggest Storylines From Week 4
Fasten your seat belts, we are in for a wild ride in the NFL this season.
Week 4 was further proof of that, as the Browns got on the board with their first win of the season, and the Jags upset the Colts at home.
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was injured in his team's loss and was unable to return to the game. Vick is scheduled for an MRI on his chest and ribs Monday after he was injured while running the ball as he was sandwiched by two Redskins defenders.
The Saints survived a scare at the Superdome in their two point victory over the struggling Panthers, and the Rams took a big step forward in the NFC West with their impressive 20-3 win over the Seahawks.
Vick's injury may have been the biggest news of the day, but there were also plenty of other big developments in Week 4 of the NFL season.
Donovan McNabb Wins In Philly
1 of 7
The Redskins got a big road win over division foe Philadelphia on Sunday by a score of 17-12, and while the win was huge for Washington as a whole, it was even bigger for their starting quarterback.
McNabb was cheered by Philly fans as him name was announced as an opposing player for the first time in the City of Brotherly Love, but that love didn't last long as the Eagles fans booed their former quarterback when he entered the game for the first time.
The Skins came out firing on all cylinders as they took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on the strength of some hard running by Ryan Torain and a nice 31-yard touchdown pass from McNabb to tight end Chris Cooley.
McNabb didn't have a great game by any means as he was just 8-of-19 passing for 125 yards, and 57 of those yards came on one completion.
Nevertheless, McNabb and the Redskins will take the big road victory.
You Do Have To Score To Win

The Steelers winning ways finally came to an end as they dropped a hard-fought game, 17-14, to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers had the terrible towels going mad after stopping the Ravens in a crucial series inside their five yard line with under three minutes remaining.
Pittsburgh appeared to have the game in hand, but they were unable to run out the clock deep in their own territory and the Ravens were given another chance.
Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco took advantage of his team's second chance, driving the Ravens 40 yards for the winning touchdown with under a minute remaining.
Ravens wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh was able to get behind the Steelers defense as he hauled in Flacco's 18-yard pass to silence the Pittsburgh faithful.
Pittsburgh's defense was impressive once again, but as we saw today, defense can only take you so far.
Peyton Manning Needs Some Help
3 of 7
This isn't the same dominating Indianapolis Colts team we are accustomed to.
The Colts lost a stunner 31-28 at Jacksonville on Josh Scobee's 59-yard field goal.
Indy has struggled to stop the run this season, and they failed to contain the Jags on Sunday as they allowed 174 yards on the ground.
Manning didn't get a lot of help on offense as he was picked off inside the Jags 5-yard line early in the second half on a tipped pass.
Wide receiver Reggie Wayne made an uncharacteristic mistake when he fumbled the ball on a 13-yard reception inside Jacksonville's 15-yard line.
Jacksonville has been very up and down this season, and although they have been better at home, this is a game Indy certainly thought they would win.
The Colts need to shape up their run defense if they are going to defeat the Chiefs at home in Week 5.
The Niners Are Down But Not Out
4 of 7
The Niners may have dropped to 0-4 on Sunday after falling to the Falcons on a last second Matt Bryant field goal, but they can still win the NFC West.
Alex Smith is not a good quarterback, and he continues to prove that, but San Francisco plays in the league’s worst division and although they have failed to win a game they are just two games back.
The Niners looked better on defense than they did at Arrowhead in week three, but they still couldn't get it going on offense.
If Alex Smith can put together some decent games there is no reason to the think the Niners can’t get back into the NFC West race.
Do you trust any of the teams in the division at this point?
I don’t.
But Rams quarterback Sam Bradford has shown that he was worth the first pick the Rams used on him thus far.
St. Louis may be the team beat right now, but the Niners still have time to mount a comeback.
The New York Jets Are Contenders
5 of 7
The New York Jets talked all off season, and they failed to back it up when they took the field for the first time this season, but that has all changed now.
The Jets offense was putrid in their Monday night loss Week 1 against the Ravens, but they have responded in a big way since that time with by rattling off three consecutive wins over AFC East opponents.
Quarterback Mark Sanchez has shown improvement the team and its fans hoped he would and that continued in Buffalo as he finished the 38-14 win with 106.4 QB rating.
Much like the Steelers, the Jets defense alone can win them football games, but when they are scoring 38 points on offense, no team can beat them.
The Chicago Bears Are Pretenders
6 of 7
Chicago entered Week 4 as one of three undefeated teams left in the NFL, but they were no longer undefeated after their rough 17-3 loss at the hands of the New York Giants.
The Bears struggled to move the ball all night, and their quarterbacks were sacked a whopping 10 times on the night, as Jay Cutler left the game at the half after suffering a concussion on a sack from Giants corner Aaron Ross.
Chicago deserved the praise they were getting after the season's first three weeks because they were winning, and in the end that is all that matters.
However this Bears team received many fortunate breaks in their victories thus far, and they were unable to catch any against the Giants on Sunday night.
The Bears defense played well once again, but the poor play that has plagued Cutler over the past few seasons returned once again, and Chicago was unable to overcome it.
Chicago should be competitive in most games this season, but ultimately they will have a tough time making the playoffs.
The NFL's Best Team Resides at Arrowhead
7 of 7
There is only one undefeated team left in the NFL after Week 4, and that team is the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs are 3-0 on the season after their bye on Sunday, and they will travel to Indianapolis next week to take on a Colts team that will be hungry for a victory.
Even though the Colts lost to the Jags and this game appears more winnable, the Indy loss was probably not a good thing for Chiefs fans.
Peyton Manning does not lose back-to-back games very often, so the Chiefs will have their hands full to say the least when they take on the Colts.
The Chiefs are at the top of the football world for at least a week, and with the league's best rushing attack and an improved defense they have the tools necessary to defeat the Colts and move to 4-0.
