Michael Vick Is Going To Shine: Five Week 4 NFL Truths To Ponder
Every week the stories come out about which team is going to do what and what storylines you should keep an eye on, like the Michael Vick watch.
What we're going to focus on here isn't the subplot, it's the main course. As the debates go on between people over who did what better, a lot of the times the truth gets ignored.
For some people, the truth is something they refuse to admit to, preferring to just call the other person crazy.
So here are five truths going into Week 4 that can't be ignored.
The Chicago Bears Aren't As Good As Their Record
1 of 5
In the NFL, 3-0 is 3-0, so let's get that particular truth out of the way because there are no additions or subtractions based on style.
That being said, two of the Bears victories are from one of the worst rulings in the history of the NFL and a Packers team that gave the Bears 18 penalties, including a pass interference near the goal line at the end of the game.
And the Bears still only won by a field goal with a few seconds left on the clock.
That kind of luck doesn't last a whole season, so Bears fans better enjoy this because this team still is a longshot to make the playoffs.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Are For Real
2 of 5
The Pittsburgh Steelers entered Week 1 with a lot of questions, especially at the quarterback position.
But there also were questions about the defense, which broke down at the end of last season and was persona non grata during the preseason.
Anyone who doesn't think the Steelers are one of the top two teams in the league at this point is just fooling themselves.
This defense is almost unstoppable, and once Ben Roethlisberger comes back, the Steelers are going to be putting more points on the board, which means once the Steelers get more than 14 points, it's over.
The Steelers have somehow evolved into a scary good team, and that's not good news for any of their opponents.
Derek Anderson Is A Ticking Time Bomb
3 of 5
Derek Anderson has a cannon on the end of his shoulder, but the problem is he has no idea where that football is going to land once he launches it.
The Cardinals are 2-1, and that should be considered a minor miracle except for the fact Anderson has done this once before in Cleveland.
Anderson will give the Cardinals a few good games and show flashes of being a Pro Bowl quarterback.
But then he'll melt down and throw four interceptions...and then he'll do it again.
It's all roses in Arizona today, but that's just not going to last.
Father Time Is Catching Up With Brett Favre
4 of 5
With how well Brett Favre played last year, it's no surprise he did come back.
However, there's no telling when Father Time is going to come knocking at your door. For some players, it's in their early 30s, for others, it's their late 30s.
For Brett Favre, it's 41. That's nothing to complain about, because it's something that just was bound to happen.
Favre may have to make a decision about his future in the next few weeks if his play doesn't signficantly improve, but let's just hope it doesn't turn into another "will he or won't he" drama.
If Anyone Predicted Michael Vick, Please Raise Your Hand
5 of 5
Rumor had it Michael Vick was being shopped for mid-round draft picks by the Eagles this past offseason.
Obviously, no one who needed a quarterback took the bait, and you can bet those general managers are smacking themselves in the head right now.
The truth is, though, who could've predicted Vick would have this kind of resurgence?
So far in 2010, Vick looks like his old self, and until proven different, he should remain the starter in Philadelphia because you just don't mess with a good thing.
Vick brought a spark to the team Head Coach Andy Reid just couldn't deny or suppress, and congratulations to him for recognizing what was in front of him and making the tough decision.
Kevin Kolb has done nothing to prove he's a bust, or that he shouldn't be a starter, but when Vick did what he did, those are the breaks in the NFL sometimes.
