Philadelphia Eagles: Was QB Michael Vick to Start the Plan This Whole Time
During the 2009 offseason, there was a lot of talk about this Michael Vick guy who was once the highest paid QB in NFL history, a guy who was as electrifying as the best of them, a guy who had no shot of ending up in Philadelphia since they had a future Hall of Famer in Donovan McNabb and a young but very promising Kevin Kolb.
There’s no way that the Eagles need a guy like Vick on the team, nor was there any room for a player with such a crook like mentality right—WRONG!
As it turns out, there is plenty of room in Philly for Vick!

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
First allow me to say that he did serve his time and has been productive in the community to repair his name!
Is it irony that the man who helped Michael Vick back into the NFL got traded just a year later to make room for that young Kevin Kolb to begin paving his legacy in the NFL, only to be benched after a single half of play so that Vick could become the starter? Or was this the Eagles brass plan this entire time?
If you think about this for a second it would make sense that this whole ordeal was crafted for Vick to be the Eagles starter.
What was it that made QB Donovan McNabb so attractive to head coach Andy Reid back in 1999, of course it was McNabb’s ability to utilize his legs to either extend the play or tear off for positive yards, sometimes chunks of yards. When you add on top the fact that Donovan had a cannon arm the attraction to him is clear!
Now, what is it the Eagles have in Michael Vick?
Ah there’s that QB again who can either extend the play or tear off for chunks of yards, now if Vick could only become just a bit more of a pocket passer he could—oh wait, what’s that you say, Vick is becoming a pocket passer (voice fading).
To take it a step further, Andy Reid was questioned about Vick and his possibilities here in Philly, Reid stated that once he was aware there was a possibility, he immediately drew up over 400 plays that involved him (Vick).
Then former Eagle Ike Reese’s curiosity began getting the better of him and he asked why was Vick getting so much attention from the coaching staff if the plan was for him to be the backup to heir (not so) apparent Kevin Kolb.
Lastly, I can’t remember the last time a starting QB had been demoted and was so blatantly supportive of the man who he just lost his job to.
As the scattered pieces of this Philadelphia Eagles puzzle comes together, it begins to paint an almost transparent picture of what was going on within the front office throughout this whole situation—starting with opting to bring Vick to Philly, through the McNabb trade, and right back into a starting position.
Up to this point in the season, he has been undeniably remarkable and if he continues to produce points like he did in Jacksonville, that fuzzy picture of a contract extension should become a little more obvious as well!
