Chicago Bear-Ly Wins: Thanks for the Flags, Packers
On Monday Night, the Chicago Bears beat their arch rivals, the Green Bay Packers by the score of 20-17 on a late 4th quarter field goal by Robbie Gould. The Bears didn't play their best game, but they did enough to win and had some help by the Packers offensive line and defense. People have been saying this is the second time the Bears have got lucky this season; I say we will take our wins and prove everyone wrong again and again as the underdog. In the next couple slides I will say what the Bears showed in the Packers game and as well as if these will continue all season.
Bend But Not Break Defense Is Proving to Work....Thanks To The Big 3

During the game, I could not notice but see what an impact Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, and Julius Peppers had on the outcome. Julius Peppers was being double-teamed all night, Urlacher and Briggs were all over the field making plays. Urlacher got caught sleeping on the touchdown throw to Greg Jennings, but he made up for it on the fumble he caused late in the 4th quarter. The defense looked like they were going to get destroyed by Aaron Rodgers in the first half, but they made some great 2nd half adjustments and proved they could at least slow the offense down. They caused 2 turnovers during the game and none was bigger than the fumble in the clutch, thanks to Urlacher and Briggs.
Julius Peppers didn't fill up the stat sheet with just 2 solo tackles, a quarterback hit, and a blocked field goal; but he did what he is supposed to do, cause a double team on him. He caused the offensive line of the Packers to get some holding penalties and if anyone watched that game, the offensive line could have easily been called for a half dozen more holding calls. He is allowing the linebackers do their job, stay in coverage and help the lackluster pass defense.
This will continue until they face a better line than the offensive lines of Detroit, Dallas, and Green Bay; but they have enough talent to cause any line trouble and will continue to cause penalties on the offensive lines they face, which will help the defense play better coverage.
Devin Hester Is Back To Doing His Thing From 3 Years Ago
2 of 3
Nobody thought Devin Hester would go 3 years without a return touchdown, but it happened. On Monday night though, he returned to the "Don't Kick It To Him" Devin Hester of old. He didn't do much in the passing game, but he made up for it in his natural position, punt returner. He should have had 2 touchdown returns, but he somehow got caught by the punter (he probably thought, "Wow I haven't been this open in a while"). Lovie Smith said it best, "It felt like every time he went back there, it felt like he was going to do something amazing.
He is for some reason still getting double-teamed, even though Johnny Knox is the true #1 receiver. Sooner or later, defenses will focus more on Knox and leave one on one coverage on Hester and that will cause problems for defenses.
He isn't the Devin Hester of 3 years ago, but he will add spark to the special teams throughout the season and I doubt this will be his only punt return for a touchdown this season.
Lovie Is Being a "Head" Coach Again

Before the game Monday night, Lovie Smith deactivated Tommie Harris for unknown reasons, and Devin Aromashodu. During the game he replaced Zack Bowman with Tim Jennings. The moves ended up being extremely smart and showed that Lovie Smith has taken control of this team and if you aren't performing, you will be replaced. He has accepted the fact that if he doesn't make this team perform, he will be gone. He seems to be in sync with his coordinators and everyone is believing in him to make the right choices. This team has been playing hard every time they hit that field and the entire team is playing with a chip on their shoulders, just like their coach.
The team seems to believe through the first 3 games and seem to play harder and harder every time out. They won't play great every time out, but they will go down fighting. He has incorporated a mindset into this team that seems to be sticking and I expect this team to be a tough out every week.
