NFL Week 3 Recap: New York Giants and Four Other Teams That Disappointed
Another week of football is almost done with just one more game to go. Finally we saw a variety of games go down to the wire and a fair share of upsets.
The Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys were welcomed into the win column over the weekend.
Thank God.
Now SportsCenter won't have to devote the majority of its segments to whether or not the Cowboys will win a game this season, and Brett Favre, feel free to hang around for another couple of weeks or so while the Vikings' playoff hopes are still alive.
Anyways, these five teams were this week's most disappointing.
San Diego Chargers

After three weeks who would have thought the Kansas City Chiefs would have a two-game edge in the AFC West?
Not this guy. And definitely not Philip Rivers.
Rivers' Chargers were held scoreless in the first half and the offense couldn't get anything going. The game was reminiscent of San Diego's first game of the year against the Chiefs when they played a miserable first half.
Like the Kansas City game, the Chargers came out firing in the second half and were able to do what they wanted whenever they wanted.
It wasn't enough as the Seahawks held onto to win 27-20 to move to 2-1. Consistency has been a problem early on for the Chargers and it is something they are going to need to work on if they hope to win another division title.
San Francisco 49ers

The NFC West division favorites have gotten off to a dismal start. They got blown out at Seattle to open the season, followed it with a close loss to the defending Super Bowl champs, and then didn't show up against the Chiefs in another blowout loss.
This Niners team plays like they expect other teams to cower down to them. The exact opposite has happened, and unless Alex Smith steps up his play this will be his last season in San Fran.
Mike Singletary is going to have to work some magic to wake his team up from the dead.
Right now, he needs to pull off a motivational speech akin to last year's, when he pulled down his pants.
The 0-3 Niners aren't out of the race for the division yet, although a tough game at Atlanta looms and an 0-4 start may be too much to overcome.
Washington Redskins
3 of 5
Losing to the St. Louis Rams isn't the worst thing in the world, although it certainly is if you expect to be a playoff team.
Hiring Mike Shanahan and trading for Donovan McNabb hasn't kept the Redskins from starting the season 1-2. A tough overtime loss to the Houston Texans a week ago and McNabb heading back to Philadelphia next weekend seemed to cause a lack of focus for Washington against the Rams.
Now a loss next week in Philly would send McNabb and Co. to a 1-3 start in a tough division.
There isn't much to say about this loss other than it simply cannot happen, but it did.
New York Giants
4 of 5
Eli Manning was able to move the offense up and down the field against Tennessee, but three turnovers cost the Giants a chance at a victory.
New York was its own worst enemy Sunday.
They consistently committed penalties—11 for 86 yards—and outplayed the Titans, yet still managed to lose the game. With the Eagles looking good with Mike Vick under center and the Cowboys showing life against Houston, the loss to Tennessee proved costly.
Tom Coughlin needs to get this team playing disciplined football otherwise the Giants will find themselves at the bottom of the NFC East.
Houston Texans
5 of 5
Is it possible that we've overreacted to the Texans start?
Well, yes and no.
On one hand this was a home game for Houston up against a team that was struggling.
On the other hand they were playing a talented Dallas team that was desperate for a W. They were so desperate that if they lost, the Cowboys may have needed the National Guard to accompany them when they got off the plane to protect them from crazed fans.
Either way the Texans dropped their first game of the season and will look to rebound at Oakland next weekend.
Something to keep your eye on is whether or not Arian Foster fumbles the football. He had problems at Tennessee holding onto the ball and lost his first of the season against the Cowboys.
Houston had a chance to really prove itself as an elite team with a win, but instead it will have to settle for a 2-1 record and a three-way tie for first place atop the AFC South.
