Your Oakland Raiders, Same As It Ever Was- Bad Teams Usually Lose!

amin arikatSep 26, 2010

I don't care if the season is just three games old, and I don't care if it was just one game out of 16. The Raiders still are a bad team. Period.

Bad teams find ways to lose games. Period. The Oakland Raiders are the best at being one of the worst.

Yes number 11 (he shall go nameless) missed three field goals, and he deserves a lot of the blame. Quite a lot.

But there is blame to be shared on both sides of the ball. Way too many turnovers, not enough discipline, and downright bad luck all add up to another frustrating afternoon for Raiders fans.

Sure there are signs of improvement- including Gradkowski playing fairly well, and McFadden running better than ever and showing his talent for all to watch as he hopefully ends all the 'bust" talk.

But it's not enough. Just not quite enough. There still seems to be bad luck hovering above the Raiders.

What other team would have first and goal at the one yard line, and then get a delay of game penalty because the quarterback did a qb sneak play before anyone on the line was ready; most importantly the center?

On another drive, instead of having a semi-reasonable 53 yard field goal attempt by that kicker (who still shall remain nameless), Mario " the human penalty" Henderson false starts on third down to knock Oakland back five yards to make it a 58 yard field goal attempt.

Still way too many red zone trips end up with field goal attempts.

It's just the little things that add up to the Raiders still being the Raiders, which means they are just good enough to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The Raiders still commit too many untimely penalties, still can't protect the passer well enough to have much confidence on third and long pass plays, and they still can't get out of their own way; ultimately.

Recently I wrote the Raiders were back, that this year a return to glory was here. I was wrong. And I have to admit it.

Again, I know it's only Week 3 of the NFL season, but I have seen enough to know that some things are still the same in the NFL.

It's frustrating. It's irritating. It's disappointing. It's like another kick in the gut like many other Sundays.

But it's also reality. What you have right now, and most likely for longer than you would like to admit, is an Oakland Raider team that plays well enough to lose.

For the majority of the time....
