UFC 119 Pay-Per-View Play-By-Play: Mirko Filipovic vs. Frank Mir

1st round – This main event is going to have Herb Dean as it’s referee.  Cro Cop hits Mir with a low blow, and after a couple of moments, the action is restarted.  Cro Cop fakes a left hand and has Mir on his heels.  Cro Cop misses with a right head kick attempt.  Cro Cop puts a right jab in Mir’s face. 

Mir nails Cro Cop with a knee and an elbow while dragging him to the fence.  Mir is attempting to put Cro Cop on the mat.  Cro Cop defends and backs away from Mir. 

Mir lands a low kick and engages with Cro Cop pressing his back against the octagon fence.  Mir hits with a knee up the middle and then Herb Dean seperates the two and resets.  Cro Cop nails Mir with a kick to the side of the thigh of Mir.  Mir grabs Cro Cop and presses him against the octagon fence as the bell sounds.

2nd round – The second round is underway with Cro Cop blocking a Mir jab.  Mir hits with a left hand and then backs up.  Mir hits again but this time with an inside leg kick.  Cro Cop hits Mir with a left hand to the face but Mir jumps back on and hits Cro Cop with a punch.  Cro Cop opens up and puts a left hand in the face of Mir. 

Mir gets a body lock and presses Cro Cop up against the octagon fence.  Mir is trying to stomp on Cro Cop’s feet, but Cro Cop defends and Herb Dean seperates the two.  Mir hits Cro Cop low but the action doesnt stop.  Cro Cop barely grazes Mir with a left hand.  This time Mir pushes forward and presses Cro Cop against the octagon fence once again. 

Herb Dean is warning the two to start the work but not much action resumes.  Mir is trying to land some knees but cant find a home for many of them.  Mir still has under hooks and is trying to take Cro Cop to the ground.  Herb Dean seperates once again. 

Mir nails Cro Cop with a left but Cro Cop hits Mir with a kick to the body.  Mir misses with a left hand and races past Cro Cop as the end of the 2nd round comes.

3rd round – The final round is underway and both fighters touch gloves.  The crowd continues to boo loudly but the fighters continue to show patience. 

Cro Cop fakes a shoot and hits with an open left.  Mir comes in and engages with a left of his own.  Mir is backed up with a left hand and then catches Mir and throws him to the ground. 

Cro Cop misses with a left and right punch combo.  Cro Cop finds a home for a left hand and then blocks a takedown.  Cro Cop lands a decent left hand that jerks Mir’s head back.  Mir ties Cro Cop up and presses him against the octagon fence once again. 

Herb Dean warns the fighters to continue and Mir tries a takedown.  He fails with the attempt and Cro Cop lands a knee. 

Herb Dean seperates and reset in the center.  Mir lands a left hand and Cro Cop misses with a right hand.  Mir hits with a kick and a right hand and then presses Cro Cop agains the fence. 

Mir finally lands a knee to the fence that puts Cro Cop on his back and out. 

OFFICIAL DECISION – Mir over Cro Cop 3rd round (4:02) KO
