SEC Weekend: Will Tide Roll? Freshman Vs Freshman, Florida on Upset Alert?

What a weekend in college football. Sure, you have the big game between Boise State and Oregon State, as well as intriguing match-ups such as West Virginia-LSU, UCLA-Texas, Stanford-Notre Dame, and Cal-Arizona. All are worthy of sitting down on your couch, with your feet propped up on your living room table and rejoicing in the fact that it's yet another Saturday.

If those games are worthy, then these three big games in the SEC are must-see TV. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking this is just another advertising tool with great previews and fancy music only to be disappointed, in the end, by the overall product. I understand. But trust me, you don't want to miss this.

The biggest game in the SEC this weekend involves two top ten teams in Arkansas and Alabama. The Tide have picked up right where they left off last season. A balanced offense, now even more dangerous with the return of Mark Ingram, paired with a suffocating defense. Their 24-3 win against Penn State was impressive, albeit against a freshman quarterback, who had a few good throws, but, ultimately, struggled against the Tide defense. That was expected.

But, please, this is different team they'll be facing this week. A much better team. A conference team and the first test against a good SEC opponent. Ryan Mallett is your prototypical, NFL quarterback. At 6'6 238 lbs., he has a rocket for an arm. Mallett lit up Georgia last week for 380 yds and orchestrated a 2 minute drive that was Brady-like to win the game for the Hogs.
