Cleveland Browns Vs Baltimore Ravens: Ravens To Kick To Josh Cribbs in Week 3

Daniel WolfSep 23, 2010

The Cleveland Browns travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in an AFC North divisional showdown in Week 3 of the NFL season.

After seeing the Kansas City Chiefs kick away from Pro Bowl returner Josh Cribbs all day long last Sunday - perfectly justifiable since Cribbs returned two kicks for touchdowns against the Chiefs in 2009 - the Ravens said they will indeed kick to Cribbs this Sunday.

Is this just a smokescreen to trick Cribbs and the Browns into thinking they will have a chance to return one back for a score?

Perhaps, but this news from the Ravens should make both Cribbs and Head Coach Eric Mangini very happy.

You can bet that Browns fans are happy to hear this too.

After scoring on a 65-yard touchdown pass against the Chiefs, Mangini told the Cleveland media that he really needs to get Cribbs into the offensive game plan more since he is the Browns' biggest playmaker.

With the Ravens saying that they will be kicking to Cribbs, this could mean a big game statistically for the two-time Pro Bowler.

Since both Browns' starting receivers only have a combined five receptions between them, Cribbs was already looking to get more playing time as a receiver in Week 3.

You can bet that Cribbs will bring his A-game against a divisional rival, but hopefully Mangini will follow suit and not let his team sink in the second half of the game.

If Mangini cannot get his team to play a full four quarters for the third game in a row, then his chances of staying on the hot seat will only increase and get hotter and hotter each week.
