San Francisco is led by QB Alex Smith who may have turned a corner in his career when he guided his offense to a game tying score with a minute and half left in regulation only to lose on a last second field goal against the Saints. QB Smith threw for 275 yards with one TD, but threw two INTs. The 19th ranked rushing attack was led by Frank Gore who had a huge game with a TD and 112 of the 142 Niners rushing yards. They converted 24 first downs and converted 5-of-9 third down attempts. They did however gift wrap and put a tiny little bow on top of the game by committing four costly turnovers.

Kansas City enters Week 3 betting action off to a surprising 2-0 start for the first time since 2005. Their 5th ranked rushing attack gained 140 yards on the ground led by Thomas Jones’ 83 last week. Their ground game will be tested in Week 3 against the 49ers 6th ranked rushing defense. The 30th ranked passing attack gained just 176 yards to go along with two INT’s. They converted 16 first downs and 33 percent of their 3rd down attempts. They had the ball the majority of the game enjoying a nearly 7+ minute advantage in time of possession. The defense collected one sack, INT and fumble recovery each.

In the L/2 seasons after two consecutive losses, the 49ers have split their games ATS (4-4). In their L/5 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game, they are 5-0 ATS. They’ve also shown a knack for their betting backers going 4-0-1 ATS when playing off a SU loss the L/5 times. The Chiefs are 4-0 ATS in their L/4 games overall, but have covered just six of their L/22 tries against the closing pointspread at home.
