Oakland comes into Week 3 with backup QB Bruce Gradkowski replacing Jason Campbell as starter to help improve the 22nd ranked passing attack in the NFL. The offense accumulated 249 yards through the air last week with one TD and two INT’s. The ground game was led by RB Darren McFadden and his 145 yards from scrimmage. The Raiders converted 25 first downs and 7-of-17 third down attempts and won the T.O.P battle by 13+ minutes. The ‘D’ recorded three sacks and one INT while limiting the Rams to a paltry 210 yards of combined offense.
Arizona better get it together quick if they don’t want a repeat performance like last week when they got their butts handed to them by the Falcons. RB Tim Hightower continued to do his part last week running for 115 yards and a score, but QB Derek Anderson failed to follow up his solid Week 1 effort at St. Louis by throwing for just 164 yards. The Cardinals offense didn’t convert a single third down in eight attempts while moving the chains only 11 times. To make matters worse their 26th ranked defense gave up 223 yards through the air and 221 yards on the ground while recording just one sack and a fumble recovery.
Oakland has cashed six of its L/7 games following an ATS loss, but has failed to cover each of the L/6 times it tallied a SU victory in the previous week. The Cardinals are 4-1 ATS in their L/5 home games and 5-1 ATS the L/6 times they played off a SU loss, but stand just 2-5 ATS its L/7 games played in the month of September.
